Chapter 7: I am on a mission

After Clay left, I laid on my bed for an hour or two, thinking about what he said. He hasn't given me a reason to trust him, but I could tell he wasn't lying either. His caramel eyes were always staring at me intently, but with honesty and a hint of sadness. Maybe I should forgive him. I always wanted to have an older brother who would tease me, but was protective of me. Maybe I should give Clay a chance. Unsure, I went back upstairs. When the elevator doors opened, there was a rose. A sticky note was attached to its stem. In hasty handwriting, Clay had written PLEASE. I will admit that that was sweet of him. I decided to forgive him. I mean he said he was sorry and I don't want to spend the rest of our lives fighting either. I took the rose and walked to Clay's dorm room. He didn't have a roomate, so he got the room all to himself. I rode down the elevator, questioning whether forgiving him was a good idea. The elevator doors opened to reveal his room. He hadn't settled in yet, so there wasn't much furniture. Just a bed, a television screen and a mini fridge. There were two other smaller doors: bathrooms. Clay wasn't in the room. I heard movement in one of the bathrooms, and so I walked towards it. I was about to knock, when the door opened. I looked at his face, and then slowly looked down. Clay was half naked, and wore a towel around his waist. His hair was wet and his six-pack was showing. "You just couldn't help yourself could you?" he asked me. A smile spread on his face. His teeth were amazingly white. Now he really did look like an Abercrombie model. He was the complete package: six-pack, perfect smile, muscular, and not too bad looking. I shook the thought away. "I decided to forgive you. I'm sorry too, for taking so long to decide. You're my brother, and siblings always forgive each other," I told him. There was silence.

"So are we supposed to hug now, or..."

"Maybe later, when you put a shirt on."

I took out my phone and took a picture of him. When he asked me what I was doing, I simply said, "Seeing how long it takes for you to make my friends faint." He laughed. "Should turn on the heat?" he offered. Steam immediately rose from his skin. He gave me a million-dollar smile. I couldn't help but laugh. I snapped a picture and sent it to my Fiona. Maybe having Clay as a brother wouldn't be as bad as I thought.

We spent some time hanging out in his room. We were both sitting on Clay's bed. Clay was fully clothed and I was sitting on the edge of his bed. After some time, Connor came down the elevator and cleared his throat. "Clay, my Dad wants to talk to you." Clay got up from the bed and said goodbye to me. He said hi to Connor, but Connor didn't say anything. He just nodded. I felt really guilty for not telling him about the kiss. Clay went up the elevator by himself, and Connor sat down with me on the bed. "Look, I'm really sorry I didn't tell you what happened," I apologized. Connor wouldn't look at me. He just looked down at the ground. "Then tell me now. Exactly what happened." So I told him everything. "I didn't know what to do! I didn't know who was it, but all I knew was that if they heard us talking, we would get caught for sure. I'm sorry. I never really got the chance to tell you." I put my hand on his shoulder. He finally turned around. His bright blue eyes sparkled as he looked into my chocolate brown ones. I didn't want to lose Connor. He was the only one for me. "I forgive you. It wasn't your fault anyway. You just wanted to win the game. And there's nothing between you guys anyway right?" I smiled. "There was nothing between us in the first place. We're brother and sister! There never cn be anything between us!" He laughed. His smile had returned to his face. It was beautiful. "I love you," we said at the same time. We shared a kiss, and went back upstairs.

When we got back upstairs, the horn blew again, for the second time that day. We were all forced to gather once again on thr Board floor. Mr. Kent led the meeting this time. "Thanks to Mr. Parks, the enemy now knows who the petals are. But Clay has assured me that he won't be tipping off anymore information. He's now working as a double agent to get more information from the enemy to aid us. However, the fact that the enemy now knows who he is looking for, makes it harder for us. There is no doubt that he has already started looking. We have to take action now. Which is why we are sending Allison, Bri, Connor, and Clay to Neptune High School in New Jersey. We've located one of the petals there. We need you gain her trust and tell her what's happening. Convince her to come back to headquarters so we can keep her safe." Something was off. I raised my hand.

"But sir. There is no doubt that the enemy will also have people sent in to retrieve her. If they see us, they'll take us too."

"Which is why you'll be in disguise."
