Chapter 5: I am a sister

It was three minutes into the game and I was just walking alone in the woods. Clay was such an asshole. Why is his secret power so secretive? As I was walking, I spotted a pair of legs that were dangling from a tree. Rookie mistake. I took a step. The leaves on the ground made a slight crunch. I cringed. Fall is not exactly the best season to play hide and seek outside. The person in the tree didn't move. Maybe if I climbed the tree next to it and climbed onto it from there. I leaped towards the nearest tree and landed silently on one of its large roots. I stepped slowly around it, so that the person in the tree couldn't see me. I silently climbed up the tree. I almost slipped and fell. I gripped the branch and slowly pulled myself up. I always hated pull-ups. They were always my worst nightmare in gym class. When I lifted my first foot up, I heard a rustling in the tree near me. I slowly lifted the rest of my body onto the branch and clung on. I tilted my head to get a view of the legs dangling from the other tree. The person in the tree was putting their legs up onto the branch. But I didn't hear anything else. That meant that they were still in the tree. I climbed from branch to branch, and I reached my hand out for the branch of the other tree. It was almost within my reach. The tips of my fingers barely brushed over the branch. I heard a loud whistle. The game was over early. It had only been five minutes, according to my digital watch. I jumped out of my tree, and landed on my feet. The person that was hiding in the other tree was Robin. "Hey, Allison! Fun game, wasn't it?" I faked a smile. "Yup. Fun-ny fun fun!" A yellow blur passed us. A small breeze followed. "Must be Wally."

We all met back at the porta-potty. Bri was standing next to Mr. Kent. "Sorry guys, but Bri blew the horn, which means emergency meeting, so we had to stop the game. Who was it?" I slowly raised my hand. "Oooh. Better luck next time Allison. Let's get back inside." Clay passed me as we huddled inside the porta-potty. "Yeah, Allison. Better luck next time," he scoffed. My hands were getting hot. A flame ignited on my finger.

We all packed into the Board floor. I took my assigned seat next to Bri and Connor. Clay had a seat next to Bri. Lucky for him. If he was next to me, I would have strangled him to death. Everyone was quiet all of a sudden. Just like the last meeting, the old lady I had carried to headquarters was sitting in a separate chair. Bri stood up and walked to the front of the room. "Like Allison, the only way I had gotten ANY information out of her was through numerous games of pictionary and charades. I apologize for taking an extensive amount of time interrogating, but I feel that this will be worth it." She had a sheet of paper in her hand. She put it on the overhead and it was displayed on all of our personal screens and the huge projector screen. The old lady had drawn a diagram of the flower, similar to the one she had drawn for me. But this one was more detailed. It was a flower with four petals, but one of them was ripped in half. Each petal had an arrow that connected it with a certain mini picture. For example, one of the petals was connected to a small leaf. Another petal was connected to a raindrop, and another petal was connected to a small cloud. The last two, the two small ones, were both connected to a small flame. "Each petal controls a different element of the Earth. One controls water, one controls air, one controls earth, and the two smaller ones together control fire. If the petal dies, so does the element. That means that if the water petal dies, all of the oceans and rivers and every single drop of water will dry up. This must be why it's so important that the enemy gets it." I glanced at Clay. This appeared to be news to him. "We all know that I am the earth one, and Allison is one of the fire ones, but-" Bri started to say. But Clay got up out of his chair. "I didn't know that. In that case, I'm taking you back. I'm quitting this crap and taking you guys with me." He grabbed me and pulled me into a headlock. He walked toward Bri. "You might not want to do that," she simply stated. "Try and stop me," he retorted. Bri shrugged. "Okay. It might interest you to know that apparently, you, Clay Parks, are the other fire petal."
