Fallon heaved a sigh when Lucian pulled into the parking stall in front of the school. “I can’t believe we have to waste another year of our lives here.”
Lucian slid her a sideways grin. “First day and you’re starting already?”
“Yeah, because this place sucks.”
The three of them hopped out of his Escalade. This was the first year Griffin was riding to school with them. Even after they’d become a trio last year, he’d driven his own car to school.
“I know a way it could be cooler,” Griffin spoke up.
“I don’t see how this place could possibly be cool,” Fallon said.
Quick as a flash of lightning, Griffin grabbed her by the hand and pulled her against him. The intensity of his kiss made her breath catch in her throat.
“You can’t do that here, Dex,” she murmured
“Only you can tell us apart,” he reminded her as he kept her tight in his embrace. “You and I can be together this year and no one will know.”
“What about Sin? We’re a trio.”
“Not at school. This is the closest we can get to being together.”
Fallon glanced over at Lucian. “And you’re okay with this?”
Lucian shrugged. “As long as we get to take turns it’s cool.”
At least now she knew why they were dressed alike, but Fallon wasn’t so sure it was a good idea. If any of the God Squad figured out what they were doing, their lives could be ruined in the most literal sense of the word. All it would take was the hint of suspicion for Christian Church to go running to his father. Then they’d have The Holy Servant breathing down their backs.
“That’ll never happen,” Griffin assured her. “Church isn’t that smart.”
“And he’s not that stupid,” Lucian agreed.
Griffin glared at his brother. “So, are you saying you’re not down with this now?”
“No, I’m just saying we need to be careful.”
“What about Simeon?” Fallon asked. “Do you think he’ll be okay with this?”
“Probably, as long as we’re careful,” Lucian repeated.
Fallon took a deep breath. “All right.”
A slow grin spread across Griffin’s face. “Yeah?”
“On one condition,” Fallon said, and his left eyebrow went up. “If anyone even seems suspicious, we abort this whole mission.”
“That’s a promise,” Griffin said.
The soft kiss he used to seal the deal melted some of her doubts. With her eyes closed and her lips pressed to his, even she had trouble telling them apart. There was no way anyone would know what they were doing as long as they were careful.
“Seriously, is this all you two ever do?”
Hearing Daphne’s voice sent Fallon’s heart racing. Whether or not they could pull off this revolving door switch was about to be put to the first test. She offered her friends a smile as she let go of Griffin and turned to face them.
