Fallon heaved a sigh as she entered her economics class. Besides the fact that she hated school and all of her classes, this one was her least favorite. Minos had beaten her there, and his eyes lit up when she came toward him.
I’ve got to get a different seat, Fallon thought as she avoided meeting his eager gaze.
When she reached her desk, she frowned to see a folded piece of paper sitting atop it. Fallon opened it and drew in a sharp breath to see a picture of her in bed with the twins, and they weren’t sleeping. ‘I’m getting closer’ was printed at the bottom of the picture.
“Hey, are you all right? Your face is all red.”
Minos’ voice grated on Fallon’s nerves.
“Did you have something to do with this?”
Minos frowned at her. “With what?”
Fallon waived the open paper in the air. “Did you leave this on my desk?”
“No, I didn’t even know there was anything on your desk.”
“How is that possible? If you didn’t leave it that means it was either here when you got here or you saw someone leave it.”
“I hate to tell you this, but my world doesn’t revolve around you.”
Seth approached them. “What’s up?”
Fallon shoved the picture toward him. “This was waiting on my desk.”
Seth widened his eyes and then looked down at Minos. “You think he had something to do with this?”
“He says he didn’t.”
“Do you believe him?”
“I don’t know.”
“You want me to kill him or just beat the crap out of him?”
“What makes you think I’ll let you do either?” Minos interjected.
Fallon cut her eyes toward Christian’s desk where he sat watching them. Even without being able to read his mind, she knew what he was thinking. If she let Seth hurt Minos, the deal with Christian would be off.
“Just leave him alone.”
Seth grinned at Minos. “Guess it’s your lucky day.”
“Yeah, lucky me,” Minos muttered as Seth moved to take his seat.
Minos didn’t know it yet, but his lucky days were numbered. As soon as they took care of The Holy Servant, he was next on the list.
If Griffin received the same kind of note she did, his face betrayed nothing. Fallon came out of her first period class to find him leaning against the opposite wall and wearing his usual lazy grin. That grin faded when she didn’t smile back at him.
“What’s wrong?”
She extracted the picture from her pocket and handed it over. Griffin’s eyes narrowed as the fluorescent lights dimmed.
“Who gave you this?”
“No idea. It was sitting on my desk when I got there.”
“Was Church already there?”
