Chapter Ten

BPOV

There wasn't a moon out tonight. It didn't bother me since I could see in the dark but it would have given my form away. I crouched in the brush, looking out at a small herd of deer. My muscles prepared to pounce when a small golden brown wolf snuck up beside me.

Robin.

I almost snarled at her for startling means interrupting my concentration. Instead I just huffed my annoyance at her and I could have sworn that her eyes were laughing at me. Turning my attention back to the deer I readied myself again.

This time I was successful.

My lunge was powerful, as well as my teeth snapping the doe's neck. Warm blood coated my muzzle and paws as I ripped into the body. This is what I had been craving!

I felt more than saw the others join me. Looking up I saw Rashed standing a few feet from me. He joined me when I nudged the carcass toward him. His warm body settled close to mine and with a sharp crack his jaw broke one of the doe's bones, loosening a hind leg free to naw on.

Afterward I lay in the clearing, away from my kill, to clean my paws. The Shifter crows were now going to work on the leftovers. There caws filled the clearing.

Rashed sat next to me, giving me his body heat again and I marveled at how much bigger he was than me. He made me feel safe.

His chosen form tonight was a large black wolf. His coat blended perfectly well with the fur of my Jaguar form. A human probably wouldn't have seen us, if they walked by, we blended into the night well.

His paws landed beside my own, still bloody. Without thinking I started to clean him. He returned the favor when I was done and not long after we drifted off to sleep. The sun woke me in the morning and I stretched, extending my claws. Rashed shifted around beside me and I looked at him. I stared at him until he woke up.

I noticed that Robin and her mate Randy were laying together a few feet away but I left them alone. We slowly trotted back to his place. My heavy stomach swinging below me, full of pups and food. I was extremely content, to the point where I felt lethargic, ready to sleep for the rest of the day. When we rounded the corner to Rashed's front door we found Jared there, who nodded and opened the door for us. I immediately padded into the living room and flopped down on the couch. A few minutes later I heard voices come down the stairs but I was too lazy to lift my head.

Both males came into the room and looked at me.

"Bella? We were able to fix your car so if you want to leave you can. I'll see you both later." Jared saluted Rashed and quickly left.

They fixed my car? I guess my only excuse to stay is no longer valid. Does Rashed want me to leave?

I looked back to Rashed's towering frame then sighed, closed my eyes, and curled up to sleep. I would think about that question later. The couch dipped as he sat down next to me. This caused me to slip closer to him which I didn't mind but I decided I had to keep him on his toes.

Lifting my head I narrowed my eyes at him, letting out a growl. His breath caught and he froze. He watched me carefully, ready to bolt if I decide to tear into him. I stretched, extended my claws very close to his leg, all the while keeping my eyes on him. A moment passed between us before I crawled onto his lap and lounged in his body heat. He was the exact opposite of Edward, who I hadn't given much thought to except for the conception of my children. Would they look like him?

Rashed started petting me, making me forget my worries, and I promptly fell asleep.
