I have not had a child. I have yet to experience it so bare with me on this and I do not speak medical speech so bare with me in that area as well. This chapter is in Bella's POV at first but quickly switches to Carlisle's POV.

Chapter Eighteen

BPOV & CPOV

After driving for hours my back was killing me. I shuffled around to relieve the pain but it only seemed to get worse.

My water broke right when the Welcome to Spokane Washington sign came into view.

Perfect timing. I groaned in frustration before yelping in pain.

"Bella?!" Robin gasped in surprise.

I clutched my stomach as a rolling pain rippled across me.

"Their coming." I said through clenched teeth.

"We'll get you to a hospital!" She sped up, my little car whining at the new speed. "Just keep them in there until then."

I breathed in and out for a few minutes before responding. "I'll try."

I directed her toward the hospital and I could see the familiar ER sign when I gave my first push.

CPOV

"We'll leave tomorrow to find the camp and make sure Bella is there and safe." I reasoned with Edward.

"I just want to find her!" He pulled at his hair in frustration. After talking with the Wolves we planned to wait a while and figure out our next move carefully but the waiting was making Edward frustrated.

"We will Edward but you need to be patient a little longer. I have to finish my last night at the hospital and then we're free to do whatever we want."

After a few more exchanges I assuaged him to wait for the rest of the family before running off to find Bella before leaving for the hospital. When I checked in, Sharron, the head nurse raddled off a whole list of things I had to do and patients to see. I liked Sharron, she stayed focus and didn't stare at me like the other nurses. She was happily married with two children.

"Mr. Rodeo has been complaining about stomach pains again." Sharron handed me a chart and I looked it over.

"Send him for an MRI and another blood test. I want to find out what's wrong before I leave tonight." I had just handed her back the chart when the over head intercom clicked.

"Dr. Cullen to the ER bay. Dr. Cullen to the ER bay."

With my hearing I could make out the sound of a woman screaming in pain. I fell into a fast jog, hating that I couldn't use my regular speed due to all the humans around. It was the same while in surgery too, couldn't move as fast as I always wanted. Caring for patients would be so much easier.

"Her contractions are getting shorter apart. The babies are coming. We have to get her up to delivery now."

A pregnant woman? I usually wasn't called for this unless it turned surgical but from the sound of it she was just on a fast track to giving birth.

I rounded the corner and almost stopped dead in my tracks.

Isabella Swan was hunched over in pain, hugging her distended stomach, face red and sweaty. My daughter was pregnant? I rushed to her side, not noticing the two people at her side.

"Bella?" I held onto her hand. "Let's get her to delivery!" I said to the nurse. We rushed to the elevator and in the wait up I finally noticed the couple behind me.

"Who are you?" I tried to keep the growl out of my voice when I scented them. They were Shifters like Bella but I didn't know what was happening.

"We're the only family she has." The male answered, sneering at me. They knew I was a vampire but they were in the same predicament as I was.

I didn't correct them. Bella was my daughter whether Edward was with her or not. The doors opened and we were rushing again. Sharron stopped the couple before the maturity bay doors.

With my hands washed and body gowned I checked to see how dilated Bella was.

"Bella? I need you to push. One, two, three, push!"

"Aaaahhh!" She screamed, then shook her head. "I can't!" Tears poured down her face.

"Yes you can. Come on Bella, push!"

A number of pushes later and a baby boy slid into my waiting hands. He had a full head of reddish brown curls and he looked angelic. If my heart could still beat it would be galloping a mile a minute. He looked like a miniature Edward. Could it be? Was this child his?

I cut the umbilical cord and handed him off to a waiting nurse.

"Congratulations ma'am, it's a boy." She said to Bella. She smiled before her face contorted again.

A second child was coming.

We went through the process again before another angelic baby came into the world. The same reddish brown curls gracing her sweet head. Except something was wrong. She wasn't moving and her skin was grey.

"Nurse!" The cord was cut quickly and I took her over to the side in hopes of clearing her airway. She still wasn't breathing.

"Carlisle? What's happening? Why isn't she crying?" Bella was starting to get hysterical. A nurse tried calming her but the only thing that would help was having her child in her arms.

Her airways were clear and I forced oxygen into her, a few seconds passed before I started CPR.

Then praying.

"Carlisle!" Bella screamed.

At that moment life seemed to fly back into the little girl and she took her first breath.

"Ah! She's breathing and her heartbeat is growing stronger." I announced to everyone. A relived sigh was heard around the room. Bella weeped on the bed then held out her free arm.

Gently placing the pink bundle into the crook of her awaiting arm. She gazed down at her children in tired wonderment.

"So your the little people who have been kicking me this whole time."

Now that all the excitement was done people started clearing out, leaving Bella and I to talk.

"What are their names?" I asked gently.

Bella looked up at me, as if she just realized I was here.

"Hey Carlisle." She said tiredly. "Charley and Ezra Swan, meet your. . .grandpa."

I nodded and smiled. "Great names."

I heard her sigh deeply.

"He should see his children."
