Emma's POV
"So let me get this straight, he has kissed you on your cheek, but that's it?" Rae asked in disbelief.
"That's right." I gave John another push on the swing.
It was a sunny Saturday afternoon. Rae, John and I were spending part of it at the park, then we we would probably end up back at my house watching movies. I glanced down at my wrist watch, we had another ten minutes until I needed to take John home for his nap.
"Is he planning to come over tonight?"
"I don't know. He said he had some things to do." I shrugged.
"Call him and tell him we're having a movie night and that he should come." Rae suggested.
"Geez Rae, am I getting boring? You don't want to spend time with me anymore?" I feigned hurt.
"Ma, high." John squealed. I gave him another push.
Rae rolled her eyes. "Stop being so dramatic. Just call him."
"I am not calling him. If he wants to come over, he knows where my house is."
"You're so stubborn." She huffed, I simply smiled at her, pleased that she was giving up.
A few minutes later, the three of us were in my Ford Fusion, driving back to my house. The park was exactly twelve minutes from my house. John was in the back seat, fighting to stay awake. Every so often his head would nod off, then he would jerk back awake. Half back to my house, Rae picked up my phone out of the cup holder.
"My phone died, I'm calling mom to tell her I'm staying with you tonight." She explained as she punched in a few numbers. I just shrugged and kept driving.
"Hey, this is Rae." I heard her say, "Listen, we're having a movie night at Em's tonight and we would love for you to come."
My head snapped over toward her, "Who is that?" John jerked awake, hearing my voice. He looked around before falling back asleep.
"Be quiet Em. I'm on the phone. Don't you know it's rude to interrupt a conversation" Rae chastised me, before going back to speaking to the person on the other end of the line. "Just come whenever you aren't busy. We're heading there now so John can nap and we're eating Pizza at 6... Great. We'll see you later. Bye Kade." Rae gave me a satisfied smirk.
"I cannot believe you just did that." I shook my head.
"I just extended the invitation to him since you didn't want to." She gave me an innocent smile.
"Sometimes I wonder why I call you my best friend."
"I'm a great friend. Trust me, you'll think me one day." Rae assured me.

"Suppers ready, pause the movie." I called out as I pulled the pizza out of the oven.
Rae pressed a few buttons, where as John ran as fast as his tiny feet would carry him. He loved Pizza. I was praying that he wouldn't get it everywhere. He, Rae and I had all had our bathes and were dressed in our PJs. I didn't want to have to give him another one. I swung him up onto my hip and blew a raspberry on his cheek.
"Are you hungry?" I asked him, he nodded his head vigorously as he patted his tummy.
"He is always hungry." Rae remarked as she walked into the kitchen.
I was fixing them both plates, when there was a knock at the door. I glanced over at Rae, who was smirking, before I yelled, "come in". I was not surprised to see Kade step inside.
"You're just in time for supper." I told him as I pulled out another glass and plate.
"Kay!" John exclaimed excitedly from his high chair.
"Hey Buddy." Kade walked into the kitchen and ruffled his hair, then moved to stand by me so he could get his plate.
"I hope it's okay that I'm here, Rae invited me." He spoke softly as he looked down at me.
I smiled up at him, "Of course it is. I told you that you're welcome here anytime."
After supper, I popped a couple of bags of popcorn, then we all settled in the dark living room. Disney movies were first on the list while John was awake. We started with 'The Lion King' because John loved lions. He crawled all over the floor, roaring as loud as he could.
Toward the end of the movie, he crawled into my lap and laid down. It wasn't long after that, that he fell asleep. I took him down the hall and tucked him in, before joining the other two in the living room once more.
Rae was laid out on one side of the sectional, leaving Kade and I to share the other part. We were in the middle of 'Life As We Know It' when I felt a hand rest softly on my shoulder. I glanced sideways at Kade, but he was intently watching the movie.
The next movie we watched was "The Longest Ride" one of the Nicholas Sparks movies. Within the first fifteen minutes of it, Rae was snoring. I got up and tossed a blanket on her. Knowing her, she would sleep there for the rest of the night.
I sat back down next to Kade and felt his arm go around my waist. I leaned into him. Neither of us said a word. I laid my head against his chest. I could heart his heart thudding in his chest. I stared at the television, but I wasn't really watching the movie.
"I should probably go home." He whispered a few minutes after twelve.
"I'll walk you out." I stood up with him. We walked in silence out to his truck. When we reached it, we paused beside the driver's door. "I'm really glad you came tonight."
"You're not sick of having me around?" He asked with a smile.
"It's nice to have some company besides Rae... Sorry about her, by the way." I apologized for my friends behavior.
"It's alright." He smiled at me."What do y'all have planned for tomorrow?"
"Absolutely nothing. Sundays are usually our lazy days."
"How about I take you three out?" He suggested.
"Really?" He caught me by surprise.
"Emma, after how many nights you've fed me and stuff, I owe you a day out."
"You've got a good point there." I smiled at him, then I let out a yawn. It was way past my bed time.
"I'll see you tomorrow then. I'll pick y'all up at two."
"Good night Kade."
I turned to walk back to my house, but he too ahold of my hand and gently pulled me back.
"One more thing." He whispered, he turned me to him, one hand resting on the small of my back, the other cupping my neck. Then he placed his lips against mine in a soft kiss. "Good night Emma."
He climbed into his truck, leaving me standing in my yard at 12:30 in the morning in complete shock. Kade McCauley had kissed me. Holy Hell.
A/N there you go KN they cuddled. I hope you are happy.
