"Great..." Chara mumbled, looking at their neck in the mirror, "More of these 'love marks'..."

Frisk giggled, "You wanted it rough, I gave it rough~"

"Mom's gonna find it suspicious, y'know... Me wearing this scarf around the house... Should we tell her...?"

It took no more than a second for Frisk to think of an answer. "No."

"Why not?"

"She...sees us as her children. If we tell her about what we did... she might think of it as...incest..."

Chara's expression fell, "But... I don't like lying to her..."

"It's for the greater good."

Chara sighed, "I guess..."

Frisk smirked playfully, "Now stop checking yourself out and get in bed."

Chara looked over at Frisk, "But...you're in my bed..." Frisk's smirk grew, and Chara got the point. "Oh God..." They covered their blush with their scarf.

The next morning, Frisk awoke, wrapped in an embrace with Chara. Frisk smiled slightly. "Mornin' Chara~" They said, kissing Chara's nose. Chara stirred in their sleep, their grip around Frisk loosening. Frisk chuckled, nuzzling deeper into Chara's neck, now covered in more darkened spots, in various places on their neck.

Frisk gently nibbled on Chara's collar bone. "Mine~" They said as Chara moaned slightly. As Frisk pulled away, they began to smell a familiar aroma. Butterscotch.

They turned on their side, seeing a plate with a pie and a folded paper on their bed. Frisk's body jolted. That definitely wasn't there last night.

Frisk slowly slid out from under the covers, careful not to awaken the sleeping demon, and made their way to the pie, reading the note.

"100% Mom Approved!" It read. All color drained from Frisk's face. "On one condition..." The note continued on the back, in all capital letters, "NO LOVE MAKING UNTIL MARRIAGE" A bright blush appeared across Frisk's face, and they covered it with a facepalm.

How had Toriel already found out?

Behind them, Frisk heard shuffling and yawning. "Is that buttersctoch I smell?" Chara asked groggily. Frisk walked over to their bed and showed Chara the note. They blinked a couple of times, then after taking a good look at the note, their eyes widened. "How did she...?!"

Frisk shrugged in response. "Mother knows all?"

Chara groaned, half their body leaning off the bed, "I don't feel like getting up today... I'm not sure I can take much more Mettaton..."

"We don't have to proceed through Hotland today. We could just hang out around Snowdin."

"Waterfall?"

Frisk nodded, "If that's what you want."

Chara rolled, literally, out of bed, dropping to the floor. They stood, stretching their limbs, leaving their spotted neck vulnerable.

Frisk then realized. "You're... not... wearing it..." They pointed at the vacant spot where Chara's scarf usually hung. Chara had to have fallen asleep in it. When they got in bed, it was around their neck.

Looking down at where Frisk was pointing, Chara realized what they meant. They gripped Frisk's shoulder, frantically shaking them, "What'd you do with it?!"

"Noooothing!" Frisk shook, pushing out of Chara's grasp. "I don't know! I never touched that thing!" Chara raised an eyebrow. "Only during...certain events... But afterwards, it was around your neck!"

"Stop messing with me. I can't go out this room without that scarf! Mom would freak out if she saw these!" Chara pulled their collar down, revealing the "love marks."

"If she saw what?" Toriel asked, passing by their door, drinking from a mug -- coffee, most likely.

Chara quickly pulled their collar upwards, "Nothing! Just--uh, have you seen my scarf?"

"Oh, you mean this?" She held up a green scarf. "Why, I found this around your neck last night. I thought it was a little too warm to wear it, so I took it off. Strange, the spots I found on your neck... Anyway, I believe I overheard you two were going to Snowdin? Well," Toriel held out the scarf with a small wink, "I believe you're going to need this."

*************************************

"Is there a specific reason you wanted to go to Waterfall?" Frisk asked as they walked across the damp ground of Waterfall.

"It's my favorite area. Snowdin is too cold, Hotland too hot. The Ruins are cramped, and all the monsters at CORE are annoying. Waterfall may be damp, and a little trashy, but I really like it here. It's really peaceful." They looked up at the ceiling of the cave they, and all the monsters, had been trapped in, "And the stars... The gems shining above us..."

Frisk followed Chara's eyes, looking up at the sparkling gems at the top of the cave, twinkling as if they were stars. "Waterfall is really beautiful, huh?"

Chara folded their arms, "You're just saying that to agree with me..."

"No, I mean it. I really like Waterfall myself." Frisk wrapped an arm around Chara, pulling them closer and giving a brief kiss on their cheek. "Really."

Chara wished so badly that they had hated the action. That it didn't make them blush. "You're such an idiot..."

Frisk chuckled, and looked back up at the gems at the top of the cave. "Hey, Chara. If those were real stars, and you could wish upon them... What would you wish for?" Chara tilted their head down, burying it in their scarf. "Was that too personal?"

Chara sighed, "I would wish for my brother back. Soul and all."

Frisk flinched. Why did they ask that question? They should've known. "Chara... I..."

"Save it." They interrupted coldly. "I've accepted the fact that he's long gone a long time ago. Now all he is is a soulless husk." Chara spoke as if saying the words wasn't painful, but Frisk could see them fighting back tears.

"Chara... I'm sorry..."

"What're you apologizing about?" Chara's voice broke, "You're not the reason he's dead..." Chara balled their hands into fists, "Reduced to nothing but a fucking flower!" Frisk reached their hand to comfort them, but pulled away as Chara raised their hands to their head, their fingers tangling into their hair, "It's my fault! Me being the self-centered idiot I am! I should've known that he wouldn't go on with the plan after I died! I should've just been happy with what I had! Happy that I finally had a family!" They fell to their knees, a tear escaping their eye, "A loving family..."

Frisk bent down, reaching a hand towards them, "Chara-"

"Back off!" Chara yelled, turning abruptly and swinging their knife at Frisk. The blade nearly made contact with their neck. Frisk froze, thrown off not only by the action, but by the goop dripping out of the dark holes of Chara's eyes and mouth.

Upon coming back to their senses, Chara's eyes and mouth went back to normal, their eyes widening. They dropped the knife. "I... I almost did it again..."

Frisk was too stunned to speak. Chara had nearly killed them. Frisk fell backwards, then backed away slightly.

Tears pricked Chara's eyes. They stood, then ran off, the sins on their back too much for them to hold.
