"Every single time I get close to you, Brayden this is what happens. You fucking run away. You won't let me in." You were pulling at the ends of your hair, pacing back and forth in the living room. Your boyfriend sat on the couch, looking at you with an apathetic expression. "We don't have to rush anything. We can go slow. We can start over."
"Everyone leaves, babe. No use in getting attached." He shrugged, only making you more upset. It seemed like this happened once a month. He would come home drunk, saying that you should leave. Just like everyone else would.
Then after a few days, everything was fine. He was a great boyfriend and nothing seemed to go wrong. It was just an endless cycle.
"Who burned you so bad that you can't even let me in?"
"First love." That's all he offered.
"What the hell? I'm trying to stay with you. No girl in her right mind would stay with someone that does this all the time and yet I am." You huffed. He still didn't look like he was interested in anything you said. "Okay. I'll give you two months. No talking, no nothing. I'll stay with my friends for that time. After then, we can start over. Go slow. If you want."
When he didn't say anything, you got your things and left. You felt bad, but he knew that you were going to come back to him. You just couldn't deal with him being there one minute and leaving the next because he was afraid of you leaving.
Two weeks later, his name popped up on your phone. "Yes?"
"I want to start over. Go slow. I can't lose you." His voice was quiet, you could barely hear what he said.
"Okay, Brayden. Just remember, I'm not leaving. You just have to talk to me."
"I love you." As soon as he hung up the phone, you grabbed your things and went back to the apartment you shared with him.
