It wasn't exactly a surprise when you got into Georgetown. Your mom and dad were both alumni. They did everything in their power to get you in. It wasn't like you didn't deserve it, though. Straight A's. Fluent in French. Honors student. Valedictorian.
It wasn't a surprise when you did just as well at the university. You were never one to go out, ever. You had a few drinks on your 21st because your friends made you, but that's all. But once finals were over for the winter semester, they convinced you to go again.
"Just put on a nice pair of jeans and a low cut shirt." Your roommate told you. "You don't have to drink, but you should let loose a little. Good start for the break."
"Yeah, okay, I guess."
"Hurry. Some of the hockey players are going out as soon as interviews are done. We need to be there before them." The other roommate came in your room, rushing you to pick out your outfit.
"How do you know where they're going to be?"
"Cousin is-"
"Right," Your first roommate rolled her eyes, "Works for the team and hangs out with them. As soon as she finds a shirt, we'll be good to go."
An Über was called and you were on your way to the bar, pre-gaming during the ride downtown. You stayed quiet most of the night, eventually ended up on the dance floor after a few drinks. Eventually, one of your roommates pulled you close and said, "That guy has been looking at you all night. My cousin said he's actually pretty sweet. Go talk to him."
You glanced at the guy at the bar and handed your friend your drink. You knew he would buy you the double vodka water that you wanted.
"Can I buy you something?"
You smiled and told him your order, "But with a lot of lime in it."
"Never seen you around before, on vacation?"
"Kind of," you laughed, "Just very dedicated to my pre-med schedule."
The two of you talked, hitting it off. Your friends had all found someone to talk to. Whether it was a hockey player or not, didn't matter.
"Why don't you come back to my place?"
"I don't usually do that sort of thing..." You bit your lip, pondering the idea. "But I guess there's first times for everything."
