Chapter 7

Blake’s POV (The day at the mall & his first day at East Shore High)

When we arrived outside my Aunt Sarah’s house, I felt relieved. I hate long car rides, it makes me sick. And besides, Aunt Sarah’s house wasn’t that bad, it wasn’t overly big but it wasn’t exactly small either. It was your modern house, it was just right.

My Aunt Sarah was my mom’s sister. She was a middle aged woman probably in her forties. She has dark brown hair and brown eyes. She’s divorced without any children. Maybe she felt lonely, that’s why she took me in.

“Hi Blake! Come in! Make yourself at home.” Aunt Sarah greeted.

“Hey Aunt Sarah! Thanks!” I replied with a grateful smile as I went in her house.

“I know this is all a sudden but I’m actually going to the mall to do some shopping, do you want to come with me?” She asked.

“Sure.” I didn’t want to say no to her. She seems so nice and I sort of owed her for taking me in her humble abode.

“Great!” She said excitedly with a genuine smile.

While we were at the mall, Aunt Sarah and I went our separate ways since she wanted to do some shopping of her own. I happily agreed since I didn’t want to be seen going in girly boutiques. I still have a reputation to keep up even though I didn’t know anyone here.

I was walking around the mall, passing through random stores. I didn’t really know where I was going. I was looking around when someone bumped into me hard.

“Hey! Watch where you’re going!” I quickly said. When I looked to see who it was, I was taken aback. Those captivating hazel eyes, fluorescent white skin and long brown hair, she was beautiful.

I could see that she was staring at me wide eyed, checking me out, probably gawking too. She looks so cute. I thought. But I quickly regained my composure and brought my cool bad boy act that seems to impress the girls.

“Like what you see?” I asked her confidently whilst smirking. I suddenly noticed that she was starting to blush. I was about to say something when she ran away. That was odd. I thought while scratching the back of my neck.

The day passed by fast. It was soon night time and I was still thinking about the girl I saw at the mall. I don’t know why but she can’t seem to get out of my mind. She was different. I quickly shrugged the thought since I needed some sleep because tomorrow was my first day at my new school.

***

Today was my first day of class here in East Shore High. I wasn’t nervous or anything, in fact, I felt pretty confident seeing as I’m already noticed by all the girls. When I stepped in the school, it felt like I haven’t really left North Hammilton High. This school looked strangely similar to my old school except for the fact that there were numbers of girls coming near me.

Great. I thought. (Note the sarcasm!) This was my first day and I’m going to be late because of these girls. All sorts of girls were swarming and flirting with me when the bell rang, signalling me that I should get going if I didn’t want to be late.

“Excuse me girls. I just wanna get to my class, okay?” I asked them nicely. They listened and made way for me to pass. I smiled to all of them gratefully.

I was walking in the wide hallways of this school trying to find my classroom. Some girl came near me and said, “Need help?”

“Yeah, I’m looking for Mrs. Barns’ classroom. English.” I replied.

“Oh okay, follow me.” She said with a smile.

I just nodded and followed her. Soon enough, we arrived at my English classroom.

“Thanks!” I said to the girl.

“No problem, I’m Brianne by the way, president of the student council. If you need anything, just call me.” She said whilst handing me a card.

Weird. I thought. But I just nodded and smiled at her.

Walking inside my classroom, I sat down at an empty seat and waited for our teacher, Mrs. Barns, to arrive.

She arrived five minutes after. She seemed nice. She started introducing herself to the class since she noticed that I was new. She was talking when someone came in the room and cut her off.

“Good morning Mrs. Barns! Sorry I was late.” I heard the girl say. When I looked closely, I noticed that it was the girl I saw at the mall yesterday.

“Ok Ms. Spencer, since it’s your first time being late, this will just be a warning. Don’t be late again.” Mrs. Barns warned. Ms. Spencer huh… I thought, grinning.

“Yes ma’am.” She replied with a shy smile. She probably noticed that the rest of the class was staring at her. She caught my eye for a second and looked away. Damn, she was adorable.

“Ok class, settle down. We have a new student. Mr. Michaels, please stand up and introduce yourself.” Mrs. Barns announced. Well, that’s my cue.

I stood up confidently thinking about what I should say, “Uh, hi. I’m Blake. And I’m a transfer from North Hammilton High.”

“Thank you Mr. Michaels!” She said facing me. But soon continued speaking to the whole class, “Now, for this school year, I need all of you to pair up for a project were doing.” She stated.

Great. School projects that involved being paired up again. I didn’t even know anyone in this class except for the girl I met at the mall. I wanted to be paired up with her. Maybe in that way, I could get to know her more.

It was like Mrs. Barns heard my thoughts because she soon faced my mystery girl and said, “Ms. Spencer, you will have to be paired with Mr. Michaels.”

This is going to be fun….
