Chapter 19

Tammy’s POV

I was now looking at a girl in a simple pink dress. Her long brown hair was beautifully curled, her makeup was done lightly but still made her brown eyes stand out, and her pink lips were curved up in a genuine smile – that girl turned out to be me. I was looking at myself in the mirror and I’ve got to admit, Zoey did a pretty good job.

Blake did a good job too or maybe it was his aunt who did well. But still, he made an effort to get me something. Inside the box was the pink dress I was wearing now, there were also bracelets and a pair of earrings, and it was the complete package.

“You look to die for, Tam!” Zoey said to me, looking proud as ever.

“Thanks to you.” I said, grinning.

“I did well, didn’t I?” She asked doing a little bow. I just laughed at her. A couple more minutes of chit chatting, the doorbell suddenly rang, startling me.

“Prince Charming’s here, Cinderella! Let’s not keep him waiting, shall we?” Zoey chirped, running towards the door. I stood my ground, frozen.

God, I feel so nervous.

“C’mon, Tam!” Zoey called out, popping her head at the door.

“Coming.” I replied whilst checking my appearance one last time. You’re going to be fine. Tonight is going to be fun. You’re going out with a super-hot guy. And he’s probably into you so don’t let him down. I chanted in my mind, calming myself. Just don’t let your guard down. You don’t want to end up like last time, right? My subconscious reminded me.

Damn, I’m talking to myself way too much.

I started my way down the stairs, being excessively cautious not to trip in my two inch heels. I know what you’re thinking, two inch heels aren’t that high. Well, I’m not used to wearing heels. And Zoey forced me to wear this so I wouldn’t look like a midget next to a 5’11 guy named Blake. I was just 5’3 for crying out loud. It had to be done. Each step I took made my heartbeat sound louder. I could hear voices in the living room. It was probably my mom, Zoey and Blake.

One last step…

“Awww honey! You look adorable!” My mom complimented. Adorable?  I wasn’t aiming to look adorable at all. Mothers.

Once I turned my attention to Blake, he breathed a quick, “Wow”, which made me blush a little. I took in his image; he was wearing a dark blue shirt that complimented his body well and a black leather jacket, his hair was tousled nicely, and of course he was wearing his signature smirk - a perfect bad boy look if you ask me and he looks mighty fine.

He stepped closer to whisper something in my ear, “If you’re done checking me out now, can we proceed on our date? Oh and by the way, you look totally hot in pink.” My mouth was in a shape of an ‘O’. I was speechless and blushing furiously by his bluntness.

“Close your mouth, hon.” My mom said snapping me out of my stunned state. Blake was smirking. Why does he keep on doing that?

I cleared my throat and said, “Yeah, right, let’s go. Bye mom! Bye Zoe!” I waved them goodbye and dragged Blake out of the house. I even saw Zoey doing a thumps up sign and mouthing ‘good luck’. I definitely needed all the luck tonight.

The moment Blake and I got out of the house, the night breeze gave me chills. Blake must have noticed it since he offered his leather jacket.

“Thanks.” I muttered, giving him a grateful smile. “So, where’s your car?” I asked.
