The following day the weather was still horrible, and in Herbology they hardly heard what Professor Sprout was saying because of the incredible noise the rain was making on the greenhouse roof. The Care of Magical Creatures lesson had to be relocated from outside to a free classroom. But the bad weather could do nothing to their mood today, because Harry had told them that he now knew where they could practice defense - Dobby had brought Hedwig back during the night, and he'd told Harry of a room called the Room of Requirement. It only appeared when a person was in real need of it, and to Amie it sounded above and beyond an answer to their prayers - imagine what you can do with a room that gives you whatever you need! At lunch, Angelina sought Amie and the rest of the team out to deliver the news that Quidditch practice that night was cancelled.

"Good," said Harry quietly. "because we've found somewhere to have our first Defense meeting. Tonight, eight o'clock, seventh floor opposite that tapestry of Barnabas the Barmy being clubbed by those trolls. Can you tell Katie and Alicia?"

Angelina looked quite surprised, but promised to pass the message along, and then she left. Amie and the others kept eating their lunch, except for Hermione who sat still, watching Harry intently.
"What?" he said.
"Well... it's just that Dobby's plans aren't always that safe. Don't you remember when he lost you all the bones in your arm?"
"This room isn't just some mad idea of Dobby's; Dumbledore knows about it too, he mentioned it to me at the Yule Ball."
Hermione looked relieved.
"Dumbledore told you about it?"
"Just in passing," Harry shrugged.
"Oh well, that's all right then," said Hermione happily, having no more objections. During the afternoon, Amie and the others sought out everyone on their list, telling them where to meet. After dinner they were sure that all twenty-five of them had gotten the news.

At half-past seven that evening Amie, Hermione, Ron and Harry left Gryffindor tower to seek out the Room of Requirement. Harry was holding the Marauder's Map, and they were all looking around nervously, even though they were allowed to be out until nine o'clock.
"Hold it," said Harry warningly, unfolding the map at the top of the last staircase, tapping it with his wand and muttering, "I solemnly swear that I am up to no good."
The map appeared, with the tiny dots showing where everyone in the castle was.
"Filch is on the second floor," Harry said, scanning the map closely, "and Mrs. Norris is on the fourth."
"And Umbridge?" asked Hermione.
"In her office," Harry pointed. "Okay, let's go."
They continued to the corridor that Dobby'd told Harry of, where there was a blank wall facing the tapestry of Barnabas the Barmy attempting to teach ballet to trolls.
"Okay," Harry whispered. "Dobby said to walk past this bit of wall three times, concentrating hard on what we need."
So they did that, turning at the window beyond the wall, and at the large vase on the other side. Ron looked as if he was concentrating very hard, Hermione was whispering under her breath, Harry just looked focused, staring straight ahead as he walked. Amie watched her friends as they walked, but at the same time she repeated to herself We need a place to practice defense without being found.
"Harry," said Hermione, as they wheeled around for their third walk past the wall. A big door had appeared in the wall. Harry reached out, seized the brass handle and opened it. Walking in, they found a huge room, lit with torches, with bookcases along the walls, and silk cushions to sit on on the floor. On a shelf at the far end of the room the was a lot of different instruments - Sneakoscopes, Secrecy Sensors and other things.
"These will be good when we're practicing Stunning," said Ron happily, prodding a cushion with his foot.
"And just look at these books!" exclaimed Hermione, running a finger along the spines of the large leather-bound books in the bookcases. "A Compendium of Common Curses and Their Counter-Actions... The Dark Arts Outsmarted... Self-Defensive Spellwork... wow..."
"Dobby certainly knew what he was talking about!" Amie smiled broadly. Hermione beamed at Harry.
"Harry, this is wonderful, there's everything we need here!" with that said, Hermione took Jinxes for the Jinxed from its shelf and sat down on a cushion, beginning to read. Amie shook her head with amusement, sharing a look with Harry.
