Interview with @MissCharmedCat

Why do you write?

I enjoy writing because it allows me to express my creativity and gives me free rein to be in control of something that is entirely my own.

Where do your stories come from/what is your inspiration?

To be honest, I just let words and feelings flow from my fingertips - apart from certain films, I don't have any inspirations.

When you write, who controls the story, you or the characters?

That's an interesting question. In certain ways, I have to follow my character's hearts because they are the centre of the story, yet I do like to control a few parts - it purely depends!

Which idea comes to you first, the plot or the characters?

Definitely the characters. Without the characters, I wouldn't see any point in writing, let alone creating a plot.

Is writing just a hobby, or would you like to become a full time author?

Before I started writing, my dream was to pursue a career as a journalist, which is a similar job, yet I'd love to become an author, too!

How much do you read and what type of books?

Without a doubt, I'm a major bookworm! Reading has been my favourite hobby ever since I was little and I've probably read hundreds of books over the past few years; it's impossible to stop!

On the topic of genres, fantasies revolving around witches and vampires (The Secret Circle, Twilight, Morganville Vampires) are my guilty pleasure, probably due to my excessive viewing of shows related to that type. However, I enjoy heartfelt stories which display a lot of emotion and truly get under the skin of the characters - The Perks of Being a Wallflower summed up all that a teenager experienced and I can't wait to read it again.

Who is your favorite published author? Why? Who is your favorite Wattpad author? Why?

Beth Reekles inspired me to join Wattpad and explore new opportunities, so I owe a lot to her. J.K Rowling. Without her spectacular Harry Potter books, I wouldn't have been placed under the magical spell of books.

Do you plan out your stories or just get an idea and start writing?

One of the major problems I experienced in the past was sitting down for ages and forcing myself to come up with ideas - it never worked! Although it may seem a bit messy, I find it much easier to start writing whenever an idea pops into my head - and to my delight, it usually works to my advantage!

How did you learn to write stories?

I'm not very sure, but I suppose that ideas occurred to me and I simply decided to jot them down, slowly turning into a story of my own.

When you get stuck, how do you re-inspire myself?

I get out of my chair and walk around, daydreaming about possible plots that I could use in my stories.

Are you a creative or logical person?

I'm a bit of both: at times, I let my imagination run wild, taking me to wonderful places, then my logical side gains control and makes me think about the most realistic things in life.

Do you listen to music when you write?

Surprisingly, I never do. Placing headphones over my ears and putting on a song - whether it is upbeat, slow or a random genre - distracts me from thinking, so I leave the music alone until later.

When and where do you write best?

In my bedroom, with the birds singing outdoors, and a smile, eager to get cracking with my favourite past time, etched upon my face.

That’s all the questions I have for you! Can I talk to a character from “Heartstrings and Tears”?

What is your name?

Sadie Marie Thompson.

What was your most embarrassing moment?

Dropping my pink Care Bear down the toilet, to my utter shame.

Who or what is your greatest loathing reserved for?

At times, I utterly detest my maybe ex-boyfriend, Joel, for dumping me in a middle of a forest during the night, though part of myself can't stop loving him.

Who are three people you can't live without?

My One Direction-obsessed little sister, Cassie; Tara, my trustworthy best friend; and Luke, a friend who may become my lover.

What is your favorite drink?

If I'm in the mood, I'd happily devour a large chocolate milkshake from McDonald's, but at other times, I'm usually gulping a can of Diet Coke. Well, fizzy drinks were created for teenagers, after all.

Who or what has made you who you are today?

Probably heartbreaker Joel, who unknowingly taught me the basic facts about love, which I guess I should appreciate - not!

What is your favorite past time?

Chatting with my little sister, waiting for my holidaying friends to reply to my hundreds of texts and gazing longingly at an expensive pair of Converse at the shopping centre. Sigh.

What are your dreams/ambitions?

Ace my GCSEs, fall in love with the right guy and discover long-lasting happiness. Oh, and maybe save up enough money for Converse trainers, if I'm able to resist splurging on a Chanel lookalike dress.

What is your favorite animal?

Despite his tendencies to get on my nerves and spend the whole day lying in the middle of the stairs, Tinker, my beloved tabby cat, is my favourite animal in the world. Cats are stylish, adorable and definitely know that they can get away with the worst crime in the world by meowing like a newborn kitten. Cute!

Who was your best childhood friend?

Tara, who I met at the beginning of primary school, has always remained my best friend, even when she started to attend a stuck-up boarding school a few years ago. And as for the worst trouble we got caught up in, stealing a bag of custard creams from the teachers' office was considered the height of crime years ago, however I rarely feel a twinge of guilt whenever I snatch a few in Mum's crumb-filled kitchen. I'm not old enough to clean up after myself just yet.

Thank you for interviewing me and I truly appreciate the opportunity - I hope that you've enjoyed reading!

Thank you so much! I'm posting it right now and I'll dedicate it to you! God bless!
