Interview with @FloatingLights

What is your favorite book you have written?

"The Late Diner."

Okay cool! What was the very first story you ever wrote and what was it about? (not just wattpad)

The very first story I have ever written was about a grown woman who lost her husband to cancer. So she finds this letter he wrote her when she was about seventeen, and then she mostly goes back at all the wonderful memories they encountered together.

That sounds so sweet! Why do you write?

Thank you :D

Why do people listen to sad music? Mainly because they have this sort of connection with the artist. They feel the exact pain and heartbreak the artist inserts in the songs, and that is why I write. I want people to read about a person's pain, love, and joy altogether. Life isn't just full of happiness and anxiety, it's a climb. For you to reach the highest peak of contentment, you should walk over sadness, agony, and pain; but you realize that after that pain you suffered with, the tiny percentage of happiness you get in return is fully worth it.

Where do your stories come from/what is your inspiration?

Stories, not so often, pop into my head when I listen to a song that struck a nerve in me, hitting me right in the centre of my heart. Or in other cases, ideas come to me when I go through old family photos/ footage, books, and/or movie trailers.

I don't think inspiration can really be written down, or said. Generally, it can't be expressed or stated. It is something so unique and exquisite that words are somehow too simple for it/them to be your inspiration. But, music and books have always played a major role in my life. After my parents split up, when I was about 1 and a half I've had this hole in my heart that needed mending, and music and books somehow new how to heal me. They understood what needed to be said, and how it needed to be said. The characters spoke words of wisdom that somehow revealed the rage and fury I felt about my father

So since you mentioned music, do you listen to it as you write? If so what type and does it affect your writing?

Of course. It's like a must for me to listen to music when I write. I usually listen to sad, slow music. Mostly, though to Passenger, Parachute, Ryan Star, Ron Pope, Florence and the Machine, and of course Ed Sheeran.

I think that music doesn't affect the way you write, but gives you ideas of what to write. Listening to a sad song, might not be the best option whilst writing a preppy chapter, but listening to it whilst writing it, might give you an idea for an upcoming chapter.

If it makes sense, then put it, if it doesn't then ask me to elaborate. :p

When you write, who controls the story, you or the characters?

A bit of both, actually. Whilst writing the chapter, I've come to the conclusion that their are several characteristics we share. So, when I write the story, I put in details about what I would've done along with what the character would've done, same thing goes for the reactions and the sayings.

Are you a logical person or more of the creative type?

I think that I'm more of the logical side. You aren't able to teach or study creativity, it's supposed to come to you naturally, but it seems that we aren't bonding like other authors do. But, I really want to know what my readers think too.

Who is your favorite Wattpad author? Why? Who is your favorite published author? Why?

I couldn't possibly pick a favourite author on Wattpad. There are too many great books that I can't possibly chose one author out of all the others. It's impossible. But I like "Float by ToastedBagels", "Blind Beauty by _nessiex3", "Bad Boy, Cupid, and Me by Slim_Shady", "Bra Boy by Floats", and "The Styles Files by Glitterati".
