Chapter Eight:
~• "This place is a mess, SoonHee should really learn how to clean or at least hire a maid." Key scrunched up his nose in disgust as Gina walked into the living room. "That's all my trash, you sent me into automatic state of depression remember? Because of you my craving for junk food went through the the roof." She sat back in her spot on the floor by the sofa and resumed eating her bag of potato chips. "You do realize those are full of calories right?" Key raised a brow and Gina sighed "What do you want Key? Or did you come here just to make me feel worse about myself?" Key sighed and put his hand on his hip "No, I...I wanted to talk to you about earlier and say that I'm sorry." Gina looked up at him "I didn't intend to treat your feelings like a joke, I just....thought we were messing around like we always do." "Well, I wasn't. I thought you understood me but I guess I was wrong." "I do understand you! We understand each other that why we're such good friends right?" Gina was silent for a moment and Key sat down next to her "Listen, I don't know how or when you developed feelings for me, but you should have told me sooner." She grinned a little "Would that have made a difference? In case you haven't noticed Key, I am a very damaged person. I wouldn't have had a chance with you." "You don't know that! I've known you long enough to not care about all that stuff! I never once judged you and I'm offended that you still kept stuff from me!" He called and Gina turned her head to look at him "You never told me you were battling depression or that you attempted suicide twice! Twice Gina!" She lowered her head and looked away "Thrice..." "Bwoh??" She sighed "The day you witnessed my mental breakdown I went walking through the rain for hours. I made it here to SoonHee place but she wasn't home. She'd given me a key though just in case. I was alone and my mind was clouded, I don't even remember grabbing the knife when I did." Key stared at her and she looked him in the eyes "Long story short, I'd manage to cut up my arms and legs pretty bad, I would have been dead if SoonHee hadn't come home and saw the blood. I'm on leave for a while from the group too until my scars heal." She could hear him breathing rather fast and she could only guess that he was crying. "IDIOT!" He tried to sound angry but his voice broke "WHY DIDN'T YOU SAY ANYTHING?! YOU SHOULD HAVE CAME AND TALKED TO ME INSTEAD OF HURTING YOURSELF LIKE THAT YOU STUPID GIRL!!!" Gina watched as he huffed and cried shifting off of his knees to lean against the sofa. She tried her best to show no emotion even though she was dying inside, seeing him cry only made it hurt more. "I know. But with you spending all your free time pampering your new girlfriend I didn't really have the option of telling you how I felt or about my problems." "I would have canceled Gina...." His voice turned into more of a whimper now "I would have told her I couldn't go, if I'd known I would have never agreed to go out with her! I'd do anything for you damn it you're my friend!" She chuckled "And yet you plan on marrying her." His voice caught in his throat and he released a heavy breath. She was right, he'd said all these things and he'd forgotten about Skyler. She'd completely left his mind. Gina took his silence as confirmation and rose to her feet causing him to look up at her "If it isn't clear already I think it's best that you let me be." He stared at her with red puffy eyes "Wh-What?" She sighed and tightened her blanket around her body. "In order for you to marry Skyler you have to cut me loose Key. The members and I are going to Japan for a while, that should give you enough time to forget about me right?" He hopped up "Foeget about you?! What do you mean?! We can't be friends anymore?!" "Skyler wouldn't like it..." He grabbed her shoulders and she jumped in surprise "I don't care! I don't! She can get use to it can't she?! You can get use to it?! You two have put up with each other this long!" Gina stared at him and slowly and hesitantly reached up to touch his face. His skin was really soft and smooth and she stroked it with her thumb. Key held her hand against his face as more tears fell from his eyes "Gina...please don't leave..." She let out a small breath trying to keep herself together. "Do you love me?..." she asked with all the courage she had and Key only squeezed her hand tighter closing his eyes as more tears fell. "I..." He searched for an answer, the right answer, but he knew he couldn't give it to her. "I...I can't leave Skyler..." Despite her broken heart she smiled "I understand. Just make sure she treats you right ok?" Key broke down and she pulled her hand from his face "You can stay here for the night if you'd like. You won't see much of me after." Key stared down at their hands as he continued to sob lightly "I think it's best that I leave..." She nodded and wiped his eyes with a faint smile. He looked at down at her as she took a step forward and lifted her face up to his, kissing his lips gently. He didn't move. And he didn't stop her. He even kissed her back. He felt she deserved that much from him if anything. She pulled away and he looked into her eyes "Goodbye Key."
