Stacey
I had seen Shazam comforting Kaedi on my patio a few days ago, and yeah—it made me jealous. Then they told us about the Luke Records deal, and I was genuinely proud of them.
But right after that?
All I could think about was how many girls were about to be all over Solomon.
"Ugh, I need to stop thinking about this boy," I muttered, flipping over in my bed.
It was 6:02 a.m.
No sleep.
No class for another three hours.
Just my thoughts running wild.
As I finally closed my eyes, the phone started ringing. I sighed, sat up, and grabbed it.
Phone Conversation
Me: Hello?
Kadeem: Morning, beautiful.
Me: Good morning. Why you up so early? I thought you'd be knocked out cold.
Kadeem: (laughs) I was about to ask you the same thing. Hope I didn't wake you.
Me: Nah, I can't sleep either.
Kadeem: I really enjoyed our date the other day.
Me: Me too. I didn't think Seven was gonna be that good—I was wrong.
Kadeem: (laughs) Told you. I was thinking for our next date we could go skating... if you down.
Me: I actually would love that. When?
Kadeem: Tomorrow.
Me: Tomorrow as in Saturday tomorrow? I would, but I promised my girls movie night. I already missed the last two.
Kadeem: It's cool. I wouldn't want you ditching your friends anyway.
Me: What if you came with me? We always have it at Kaedi's. It's just us and the guys. You could bring your boys too.
Kadeem: You sure? Your boys don't really seem to mess with us like that.
Me: It'll be fine. Just be there at eight and bring snacks.
Kadeem: Bet. I'll let you get some rest.
Me: Later.
I hung up and checked the clock.
6:10 a.m.
I rolled over and went back to sleep.
Another hour wouldn't hurt... right?
Shazam
I slapped my alarm, killing the buzzer, and rolled out of bed. I rubbed my face, checked myself in the mirror, and grabbed my shower stuff.
As I headed out, the phone rang.
I groaned, dumped my things on the bed, and picked it up.
Phone Conversation
Me: This Shazam. Who this?
Leah: It's Leah, rude ass.
Kaedi: And Kaedi. Why you so grumpy this morning?
Me: Don't feel like going to class. Shit is a dub.
Kaedi: It's one class—you'll survive, lazy ass.
Me: (laughs) Wassup though?
Leah: You still coming to movie night tomorrow?
Dino: Yeah, we'll be there. Morning, ladies.
Me: Get off the phone, Dino.
Leah & Kaedi: Morning, Dino.
Dino: I need the phone, so hurry up.
Me: I'll see y'all in class.
Dino: Later.
Kaedi & Leah: Later.
I hung up and grabbed my stuff, then walked to Dino's room.
"Actually," I said from his doorway, "I won't be at movie night tomorrow."
He got off the phone and looked at me. "Why not? We ain't done that in a minute."
"I got a date," I said.
"With who?" he asked.
"Amina."
He stared at me. "The girl from Dwayne's party?"
"Yeah. Why you looking like that?" I asked, irritated.
"No reason," he said, shaking his head. "I'll let the girls know."
"You really just gonna put me on blast like that?" I asked.
"Nah, I'll make something up," he replied. "Now hurry up so I can shower."
"Good looks," I said, heading to the bathroom.
A|N: So Shazam is abandoning his friends for a girl now? Never turns out great smh.
