When Kaedi called to wake me up this morning, I felt... inspired.

I got up, got ready, and decided to switch things up. I straightened my hair and kept my makeup natural.

Nothing too heavy—just me.

As I grabbed my book bag and headed into the kitchen, the doorbell rang. I set my bag back down on the couch and opened the door.

"Hey, Leonce," I said, surprised—and happy. "What you doing here?"

"I was wondering if you wanted a ride to school," he said.

"I usually ride with my homies," I replied, smiling, "but yeah—I'll ride with you today."

He smiled back, and I let him inside.

"So tomorrow is movie night at Kaedi's house," I said casually. "I wanted to know if you'd come."

I walked back over and grabbed my book bag, then excused myself to pack up the breakfast my mom had made. Once everything was zipped up, I slung the bag over my shoulder and met him by the door.

"Think she'll be cool with that?" he asked.

"I doubt she'd mind," I said. "She always says, 'the more the merrier.'"

He nodded as we stepped outside. "Then yeah—I'm down. What movie we watching?"

"We just pick something random," I laughed. "There's always a bunch of junk food, then we start drinking, and after that... who knows."

He laughed. "Sounds like my kind of party."

We got to school and parked. As soon as we stepped out, Leonce stopped me.

"What's up?" I asked, adjusting my bag.

"I just wanted to say—you look like all that and a bag of chips," he said. "Real sexy. Beautiful."

I blushed instantly.

He kissed my forehead, then my cheek.

"I can say the same about you," I said honestly. "When I opened the door, I was like—damn."

We both laughed as we walked toward the building.

"My first class is about to start," he said. "I'll see you later—hopefully."

"See you later, Leonce," I said, smiling as he kissed my forehead one last time before heading off.

I walked over to my friends. The girls were giggling, and the guys were shaking their heads. I hugged everyone.

"So what should I bring tomorrow?" Dino asked.

"Pizza!" Kaedi said immediately.

Dino smiled and shook his head. "Of course you want pizza."

"We all know that," G.I. laughed.

"I'll bring the alcohol!" Stacey announced.

Everyone cheered.

"I'll bring snacks," G.I. said.

"Yeah, me too," Dino added.

"I'll bring games," I said. Then took a breath. "And... Leonce might be there."

Shazam frowned. "Why? He not part of the crew."

"Kadeem might be coming too," Stacey added.

The guys sighed and walked off.

"It probably won't be that bad!" Kaedi called after them.

They didn't even turn around.

I watched them go and sighed.

Well... at least I told them.
