Mom came home within half an hour. She on seeing him was confused.

"Audrey, who's this guy?" She asked me.

"You don't know who he is, don't you?" I asked.

"Audrey, let her-..." Niall started to say, but I immediately countered him. "You never told me you had an older son. Why?"

That's when she understood what I was talking about. She went close to Abel, who was playing with a pen on the dining table all by himself.

"Here." I said, handing out the letter which he brought while I was still sitting. She immediately grabbed it from me, read it, traumatized.

"I couldn't...your dad told me not to tell you about him." She said.

"Why? Why were you trying to hide my brother from me?" I asked.

"We thought he died." She said. "Or probably with someone else. Yes we did go looking for him, for four years, but had no luck."

"Why didn't you tell me?" I asked angrily.

"We feared he would've been with HER, and if that was the case, you'd go looking for him, which I or your dad would not recommend." She explained.

"What? Going to look for someone, my own brother was-..."

"We didn't want to lose our second child, just like what happened to your brother! " She said, almost crying, and she just walked towards Abel, stroked his hair, and asked "Do you know who I am?"

But Abel just looked at her, confused, not knowing what to say. Then he said "I'm Abel. Where's my mom?"

"I'm your mom." She said, hugging him.

"No you're not." He pushed her back and said. "Where's my mom Hazel?"

"Honey, I am your mother." She said. "Look, this is your sister."

"No, I have no one else other than mom Hazel. Where's mom Hazel?" He started crying, but she just hugged him and started crying.

Mom didn't go to work that night. She just locked herself in her room the whole night. Niall and I somehow convinced Abel, and brought him up to my room. Niall and Abel shared the bed, while I slept on the couch. I did have plans to let him sleep in the room opposite to mine, but it has no bed.

Niall didn't sleep that soon. I could see him trying to change his positions a several times, whereas Abel fell asleep pretty soon. I didn't sleep at all.

The next morning, mom wasn't in her room when I woke up early. I mean, I didn't sleep to wake up. Just, to check her out. Did she go out with that officer? I don't know. Abel was still fast asleep, while Niall was trying to call mom.

"Nope, still switched off." He said, disconnecting the call. "You suppose he'd gone for her date?"

"Early in the morning?" I asked.

"You know, you shouldn't have talked to her like that last night." He said. "She just wanted to ensure that you were safe. She promised your dad to keep you safe."

"I wonder how many more things she's hiding from me." I said, ignoring what Niall said.

"According to what that letter said, Abel has met your dad, and he's spoken to him too." He said. "What do you think your dad would've told him?"
