21 : Mind Games

The next morning, I hid myself under my blanket with Niall's phone beside me just in case. I could hear the loud music playing from the other room. That's when I realized. I hadn't seen mom since morning. I remember waking up at around six, ate something, and was instructed to stay on bed until Niall or Zayn comes. If I needed to get out of bed, I was instructed to call Zayn from Niall's phone.

Where's mom? I hadn't seen her since morning. It was Niall who got me the tomato soup. I picked up Niall's phone, unlocked it, and looked up for mom's number in the call log. The phone rang, but she never picked up. She probably kept it on silent, I guessed. I called up Zayn just to make sure. He came running within seconds.

"What is it?" He asked, listing up my blankets. The natural lights almost blinded me.

"Where's mom? I haven't seen her since morning." I said, pulling off my blanket.

"What?" He asked, leaning closer.

"Mom, where's mom?" I asked.

"Oh, isn't she there downstairs?" He said. "The others haven't come yet. It's only me and Niall as of now. We were just setting the speakers up. That explained why the music was up even before they came."

"Can you go down and check on her?" I asked, pointing downwards.

"Oh, okay." He said. It looks like he understood.

He kissed me on my forehead, and walked downstairs. Just as I suppose he took the stairs, I heard a loud crash of what I guess was crockery. That was followed by more of it. Then I suppose it was Niall who ran downstairs, and then I heard loud sobs. Mom. She was crying. I wanted to jump out of my bed, run and hug her. I started panicking. I pulled off my blankets with all my force, sat up somehow, and looked out of my room from my bed.

"What is it?" I yelled, or atleast, I felt like I did. Seconds later, I found Zayn walking into my room with mom in his arms, unconscious. He made her sit beside me, but she wasn't able to. Niall held her up, and Zayn tried to wake her up.

"What happened?" I asked, shaking her by her shoulder. She had now fallen onto Niall's lap. Zayn pulled her legs up to the bed, grabbed my water tumbler, and sprinkled water onto her face. She wasn't waking up.

"She, I don't know why Audrey. We found her room all messed up. There were dishes, glasses, papers, files all thrown around in her room. It was she herself who did it." Niall said.

"Why?" I asked. "Why mom?"

"We don't know." Zayn said. "Was she angry or sad about anything?"

"I don't know." I said, as the tears rolled down my pale face. "Mom wake up, please."

"I don't find any reason." Niall said. "Should I get help?"

"Gte an ambulance." Zayn said.

"No, wait." I said, rubbing away my tears. I saw her eyes shake a little. She slowly opened her eyelids, and looked at me.

"Oh Audrey." She said, got up immediately, and hugged me tight. It kinda hurt when she did that, but it was fine.

"What happened mom?" I asked. I hope she heard me.

"Nothing. I just miss your dad . It's been ten years since your dad died, as of today." She said, and broke down again. This time, silently. Only I could hear her crying silently inside.

"This might sound crazy. It normally never happens to an original vampire. Her blood pressure has gone down drastically." Canis said, putting her hand down. Mom was now lying on my bed beside me. She was too weak to walk or move around. She became just like me. Well atleast she can speak.

"Thanks for coming over Canis." Zayn said. "I couldn't think of anyone else to call up."

"Not a problem. Do not call any other doctors who you know. Don't forget. She's not a human. Vampire sickness is totally different." Canis said, putting his stethoscope back into his bag.

"How long does she have to take these tablets?" Niall asked.

"For a week." He said. "If you still have any more difficulty, just call me. It's supposed to work in about five days. And mind you, Zayn and Niall, and also Audrey, these tablets are exclusively for vamps. Don't take them if you have the same trouble."

"What kind of effects will it have on us?" Zayn asked.

"It can probably get you killed." Liam said.

"I heard it will burn your internal organs." Lisa said, getting up. "I'll stay here with Audrey and Mrs. Lucado. You guys go and practice."

"No, you are the one who needs practice." Zayn said. "I'll stay."

"No, you need to work with Lisa." Niall said. "I'll stay."

"Shall I leave then? Just call me whenever you want." Canis said, getting up.

"Yea sure. Thanks Canis." Zayn said, getting up and hugging him. Canis left immediately. Everyone else rose to leave except for Niall.

"I'll come later. Probably in an hour or so." He said, looking at me, and then at Zayn.

"Go on. I can manage myself. I'll call you if I need you." I said.

"What?" He asked, sitting back beside me. He leaned closer to my face.

"Go and practice. I'll stay here." I said.

"No, it's not, no." He said, leaning back.

"Probably we can take turns Niall. It's not that we can't practice without you at all. We do need you." Harry said.

"He has a point Niall." Louis said.

"Okay fine. I'll stay here for an hour or so, after which someone else can take over." Niall said. "Zayn, sorry to say, but you need to practice with Lisa. So you need to stay there. Zayn?"

I turned over to see him staring at mom, with tears in his eyes. I could see him holding them back. He leaned down at mom, who looked like she was unconscious, and kissed her on her forehead.

"I don't wanna lose you too." He whispered to her. I heard it. Then he looked at me, and did the same. He gave me a little hug too, which made me a little better.

"Zayn?" Niall called out.

"Yea, I heard what you said. Let's go."

"James." I heard mom whisper. "Keep her safe."

"What is it mom?" Zayn asked, sitting beside her.

"James, she needs you." Her subconscious mind said. 

Hey guys....sorry I didn't keep my word. I was busy with house shifting and my classes. It was really stressful until yesterday. Now, I'll try my best to update regularly.
