Misa stared at the older Uchiha in horror. It was too soon, she couldn't let him die yet. She still needed him. he couldn't just let Sasuke kill him and leave her all alone! Itachi cast her a sympathetic glance.
He didn't like the look in her eye, it made him wish that he didn't have to leave her so soon. In a way it literally kills him to see her so distraught. "Did you get a little taller?" He asked as though he didn't know Sasuke wanted to kill him.
"You haven't changed a bit. Especially those cold, merciless eyes." Sasuke growled his arm around Misa tightened as his brother stared at her. Misa frowned, she could clearly see the emotions that filled the older Uchiha brother's eyes.
Itachi's gaze suddenly narrowed and he beckoned Misa forward. "Dear little 'sister' come here a moment."
Misa went to move toward him but Sasuke stopped her. She looked up at the raven. "Sasuke, let go, Itachi wont hurt me." She said, he gave her an unbelieving look and slowly removed his arm from around her waist.
Misa slowly walked toward Itachi, both Uchiha's could see the shakiness in her legs. Itachi pulled her close when she was within his arm reach. Sasuke tensed slightly as Itachi held her tight, one arm around her waist, the other looped under her arm and his right hand holding her head.
His face was buried in her blonde hair. Sasuke felt himself slightly annoyed as his brother held Misa. It didn't look at all brother-sister relationship. Sasuke could hear Misa cry as she clutched desparately to Itachi. On arm over his shoulder the other looped under his arm to cling to his coat.
Itachi had told Sasuke, when they had met at the inn, when Itachi and Kisame had gone after Naruto, that if things were different he would've taken Misa away from Konoha and had a family with her. It was clear to the young Uchiha, that all the feelings Itachi felt for the blonde Uchiha were being poured out into that one hug.
Itachi's chest tightened as he noticed all the bandages on the Blonde Uchiha, had Sasuke pulled her into his fight with Deidara. Why hadn't those idiots protected her? Deidara and Tobi knew full well that if either of them so much as put a single scratch on Misa's cheek he'd kill them, and here she was covered in bandages from head to toe.
Oh yes, he would somehow make sure that someone killed Tobi for him, since Deidara had blown himself up. The bastard took the easy route, knowing Itachi would kill him.
"Don't let him kill you." Misa said quietly as she tried to contain her sobs, she couldn't bare the thought of never seeing him again. Itachi breathed in deeply, taking in her honey suckle sweet sent.
"Misa, I'm dying anyways..." He whispered so Sasuke wouldn't hear. "I'd rather Sasuke kill me, than die of an illness." He chuckled dryly trying to make a joke. She frowned, the day he had told her of his sickness, she had screamed at him for not telling her sooner.
"If Kami had a heart they'd let you live longer.." She replied. The Akatsuki member couldn't help but smile, Misa truly was one of a kind. She had trusted him when they murdered the clan. Even though he didn't tell her the reason till later.
She trusted him enough to let him visit her over the years, even if his reputation was bad. She even trusted him enough to hold her so close, even though it gave him multiple ways to kill her. If ever he'd found the perfect one for himself, it was her. But Itachi knew her path. There was no Uchiha in her future, but sand instead.
Though he had wanted to kill the boy for taking Misa's first kiss without her consent, he realized that it was the red head who had broken through Misa's stone wall, and touched her heart. The Older Uchiha may have broken down a few layers, but even he had never gotten to her very core.
Itachi could literally feel his heart shattering as he held her, Not only would he never see her again, but she was going to be with someone, someone that wasn't him. He wouldn't be able to protect her anymore either, or give her the perfectly bloomed Orchids he had grown himself, with Zetzu's help he had been able to keep the plant alive for over ten years.
He wondered what Kisame would do with it? Would he take care of it and perhaps give it to Misa? He wished he had told his partner to give her the plant, he wished he could have written her a note with it, saying how he took care of it and brought only the best to her on her birthday.
Kisame had known the flowers were only for Misa, perhaps he would do his unasked wish and bring it to her. He rested her head on his shoulder and looked at his brother, a tear formed in his right eye, he hoped Misa never met with Sasuke again.
He frowned stroking her back. If Gaara ever hurt her again, scratch that, if he ever did anything but treat her like a Queen, he'd rise from his grave and kill the boy in the most painful way possible. Misa deserved the best and only the best.
Itachi kissed Misa's cheek as he slowly let her go. "Go find Gaara, before it's too late. Your deed is done." he whispered. She gave him a confused look as she stepped back. "Sasuke, let Misa go back with the others. I don't want her to see us fight." He said a little louded so his brother could hear. He hoped that Sasuke wouldn't escort her back to the others, it would give her the chance to go find Gaara if he let her go alone.
Sasuke frowned but nodded. "Fine, Misa go back and wait with our team mates, I'll see you later." He growled. Misa cast the young Uchiha a glare. She hoped they would never meet again. For she knew she'd never forgive him for killing her could be brother.
Itachi let a single tear fall from his cheek as he watched her go. It killed him to let her go, but he knew Gaara would take care of her, like he would have. He wanted to say they'd meet again, but he knew it was a lie.
The older Uchiha turned back to his brother ready to fight, only to be glomped in a hug, almost causing him to fall to the ground. He glanced down to see Misa with her arms wound tightly around his middle. "I can't do it... I can't just sit back and let you die." She sobbed her face hidden in his chest.
Itachi's eyes went wide as he turned his gaze to Sasuke, his brother looked like he might blow a fuse. "Misa, you have to." He said pulling her away so he could meet her gaze.
"Promise we'll see each other again." She said as though it were an order. Itachi almost broke right there. He had never once broke one of his promises to her and now she was forcing him to make a promise they both knew he couldn't keep.
"I promise." He had to force the words around the huge lump that had formed in his throat. He locked both his pinkies with hers. They both knew he wouldn't be able to keep it, but she couldn't stand it.
"Now you promised, and you never break them." She stated, he nodded. "I know."
Misa stepped close enough to kiss his cheek, "Love you Itachi.." With that Misa, his first and only love vanished into the darkness without another word. That had been the final blow, if Sasuke wasn't standing there Itachi would have broken down completely and let out his emotions.
What Itachi didn't know was that he was indeed silently crying. Tears streamed down his cheeks as he closed his eyes. "I love you too, Misa...." He whispered into the wind, though he knew no one would hear it. She was too far gone, already out of sight.

Kinaru: *Crying with a box of tissues next to me* How I wish you didn't have to die Itachi. You are by far my favorite charater in the entire show. No one else comes even close. Though my second fav is Gaara...
ANyway. I don't own Naruto.. There should be a picture on the side of Misa and Itachi. I drew it while writing this chap, and I know it's not completely accurate. I completely forgot to add Misa's bandages and stuff, but aside from that I think I did relatively well.
