We pull up to Wal-Mart. Carter and Derek are in my car and the Winchester's soon pull up after us. Emma isn't outside and I climb out of the car, squinting in the sunlight.
I'm worried about her. We all are. She had left last night without a word, but none of us questioned it. She obviously needed space. Her friend has gone missing. And the drama between all of us isn't helping. I've promised to myself to back off until the hunt is over. Because she's right. We need to be focusing on the hunt and not our own personal problems.
I hear the door to the impala slam shut. Dean isn't so happy. We tried following her in my mustang, but she seemed to just disappear, so we quickly called Dean. We met up at the apartment where Dean called Emma.
"Where is she?" Carter asks, climbing out of the impala. The sun reflects off the puddles on the ground, making it hard to see. "I thought she said she was here."
"Hey, guys!" Derek calls to us and we all walk over to him. Emma's bag lays on the ground. Derek picks it up and I can't help but grimace at the water that pours from it.
Carter picks up Emma's cell phone that was sitting on the ledge next to an empty salad bowl. "Why would she leave these things here?"
Dean takes the phone from Carter's hand and starts to scroll through some things. "Is there anyone she could've contacted from school? Someone that could pick her up?"
I look to Derek. Since I didn't go to school with them, only him and Carter would know. Carter begins walking along the wall and I watch her for a second before turning back to Derek who shakes his head.
"Not that I know of. Besides that Stacey girl, I don't think she really knows anyone else. I mean, a lot of people seem to know her," he says. "But I noticed that she just kind of keeps to herself. Even at lunch, I could tell she wasn't talking much."
"Guys," Carter says, her back to us. "You might want to come see this."
Dean takes Emma's bag and I quickly throw away her trash. We all run up to Carter and freeze at the sight around the corner.
"Son of a bitch!" Dean says, throwing Emma's bag on the ground. A fairly large puddle is dyed red with what looks like blood. Sam quickly pulls out his phone and dials a number. Moments later, he says, "Bobby. Emma's gone missing."

We all sit in the apartment in front of the TV though we keep it off. Sam is on his laptop, trying to find out information while Dean glares at nothing. Carter is also looking at stuff on her computer. Derek and I sit next to each other, both of us reading books about demons.
"She knows how to exorcise them, right?" I ask. "And she knows what to do?"
Dean nods. "She should know. But there's only so much she can do if she's been captured. Cas is busy looking for her right now."
I nod. "Where do demon's like to keep their captives?" Derek asks.
"Anywhere really," Sam says. "Thought abandoned warehouses seem to be the most common."
I sit up. "Then why don't we search for those and then go from there?"
Derek pulls out his laptop. "I'm on it." After a few minutes, he says, "Okay. Looks like there's three around town. If we split up, we should be able to find her, right?"
Castiel shows up just then. "I can not find her, Dean," he says. "They must have marked her."
"Then we split up," I say. "Derek and I will go to one. Then Carter can go with Sammy. And then that would leave Dean with Castiel."
Dean stands up. "I guess that's the best that we got," he says, suddenly looking very tired. I can't help but feel bad for the guy. He only found out he had a daughter a year ago and she already has gone missing more times than he would like to count.
Sam stands up then, slamming his laptop shut. "Yes. I agree. But we also have two more students that have gone missing," he says. "So we need to hurry. By the looks of it, they're building an army."
Carter shakes her head. "But why?"
Dean shrugs. "I don't know. But I want to get to the bottom of this before we have to find out. Let's get going. Which one is the closest?"
Derek gives us the addresses and we soon split off. Dean and Cas take the closest one and walk, handing the keys to the impala off to Sam and Carter. Derek and I climb into my mustang and begin driving to the other side of town after gathering our needed supplies.
Derek practices his Latin in the passenger seat. "Nervous?" I ask, laughing a bit.
He gives me an annoyed look. "I haven't dealt with demons before. Hell, I haven't even come across one before. And the girl I care about happens to be a prisoner to them. Of course, I'm nervous. Are you bloody stupid?"
I laugh. "Woah," I say. "I was just asking." We drive in silence for a couple minutes and eventually I can't help but ask, "You really care about her?"
He shrugs. "Yeah," he says. "I mean. She's amazing, beautiful, smart. She lost her mum like I did mine. I can't help but feel like she understands."
I laugh. "Yeah," I say. "I get that."
"What about you?" He asks.
I nod. "I do care about her," I say. "Just like you said, she's amazing, beautiful, and smart. From the day that I met her, I knew she was special. And her mother was willing to do anything to protect her. She gave her life to protect her daughter."
He smiles. "She probably had no intentions on any of this bullshit happening."
I shake my head and can't help the tears the well up in my eyes. "No. She trusted me to protect her. To take her to her father. But she doesn't trust Dean. So she wanted me to stay with her. To take care of her. And all I seem to do is fail that. I failed her. I failed Emma."
Derek shakes head. "No, you haven't," he says. "Emma is the one who keeps running off. She doesn't give you the chance to protect her. You're doing all that you can."
I laugh. "Yeah," I say. "I guess."
Derek sighs. "She loves you," he says. "She ended things with me because she didn't want to hurt you."
I shrug. "And she loves you," I say. "I think she's just confused right now. About what she wants. If we just give her time, she'll make her decision, and we have to respect whatever that is. But we can't push her to choose. We can't make her decide. It has to be on her won."
He sighs again. "I know," he says. "You're bloody right. I don't want you to be. But you are. And I'm not helping. I should have never kissed her the other day. She had made it perfectly clear she didn't want to be with me."
I look to him. "What about Carter?" I ask.
He smiles. "I like Carter. I guess I'm in the same boat as Emma with this whole situation. I don't know what I want."
I nod as we pull up to the warehouse. "Well," I say. "I think Carter understands."
His smile becomes more genuine. "Yeah," he says. "She does."
I smile back and turn off the car. "You ready?"
He nods and climbs out after me. "Let's do this."
We both give each other a nervous look before closing the doors to the mustang. After taking a deep breath and grabbing our things out of the trunk, we make our way into the warehouse.
