Security Detail (Neptune x Writer)

Formalities

     I went to my office and noticed that there was a long piece of metal resembling a girder sitting on my desk. It was heavy. There was a note from IF on my computer screen.

"If the alarm ever goes off in the Basilicom, get inside her room and reinforce the door using this. I left instructions in the thing in case you don't know how to set it up. We'll restock you if you need it. -IF". I guess this is the new protocol. I have to defend her...no matter the cost! I arrive at my post and set up. That's when I saw Neptune walking down the hall towards her room. I instinctively straightened my spine and opened the door.

-"Hi there champ!"

-"Hello sir."

-"I told you not to be so formal, just call me Neptune!"

-"I'll try si- I mean Neptune!"

-"See! Gettin' better already!"

     She went inside her room and I heard the sound of a gaming console starting up. Was being a CPU really that luxurious? I thought they had a ton of work to do every day, or is it really this laid back? Whatever, not my place to question a CPU. The rest of the day went on uneventfully. Other than Neptune or Nepgear leaving the room the use to bathroom or get food. The alarm on my watch went off, indicating the end of the day. I went to my office and packed up my things. Just as I was about to leave, I heard a knock on my door.

-"Come in!"

     I saw Neptune open the door and was just about to go on 1 knee again but I restrained myslef halfway through.

-"See? I knew it wouldn't be too hard"

-"W-what's up Neptune?"

     I tried to act natural, something I've never done in front of my superior.

-"I just wanted to check up on you, make sure you're not stressed out or anything. Are you?"

-"No, I'm used to security jobs."

-"Have you eaten yet?"

-"No, I didn't get the chance to."

-"You wanna get something to eat at Grubway? On me!"

     My body froze up. What should I say?! She was offering a meal and I want to make a good image for myself! I said yes without even realizing it.

-"Great! Let's go!"

     We went outside and I went to my motorbike. I assumed she was behind me but when I turned around I didn't see her. I was poked on the head and I looked up and saw something INSANE. It was her! Purple heart! Floating right in front of me! I didn't know what to do so I called out to her.

-"N-Neptune?"

-"Yes Riley?"

-"I-It's just that I thought we were taking my bike to get there!"

-"I can fly there Honey~"

     I could tell her manner of speaking was different. I should just go with it.

-"I guess I'll meet you there then!"

-"Of course sweetie~"

     She then flew in the direction of the Grubway. I got onto my bike and drove there as fast as I could! Don't want to keep her waiting for long! I arrived there and she was at the door waiting. But, she's back to normal now. I don't know the transformation works but I'll go with it.

-"There you are Riley!

-"Yeah, sorry, did I keep you waiting long?"

-"Nope! Not at all champ!"

     Still don't know what's with the "champ" thing but that doesn't matter. We spent supper at Grubway and she headed back to the Basilicom. I drove home and flopped on to my bed.

-"Apparently I get 250$ a day instead of 100$ now, I guess that's good. What's Neptune's true personality though? I guess I'll find out in time."

     I let my body relax as I fall asleep.
