Security Detail (Neptune x Writer)

Getting an upgrade (2 months later)

     I arrived at the almost completely repaired Basilicom and got to my post outside Neptune's door. It was at 3:07 that IF called me on my walkie-talkie.

-"Riley! You there?"

-"Yes sir, I'm here. What is it?"

-"Come down to the robotics facility. If you don't mind we need someone to test the new suit of armor that we just finished."

-"I will have to decline sir. If that armor hasn't been tested yet, I don't want to die while wearing it."

-"I'll make you a deal."

-"I'm listening."

-"The test goes well, you keep it. Besides, we only want to test its weapon systems."

     My brain was yelling at me to "JUST DO IT!". If this armor is the one that was in development since the attack of "The Lava Diamond" group, it's gotta be good."

-"What do you say Riley?"

-"I accept those terms."

-"I'm giving you 20 minutes to get down here."

-"I'm on my way!"

     I rushed to the elevator and went down to B5 (Basement 5). The robotics lab was the place where they assembled and tested the new pieces of hardware Planeptune had created. I saw IF talking to some scientists and I walked over.

-"There you are, Riley!"

-"So...what's the suit called?"

     I pointed to the big suit of armor behind her.

-"It's called the: "XS1 Atlas" or just "Atlas" for short."

     "Atlas" had Titanium alloy armor and a mini-gun under the right arm. Micro-missile launchers on both of its shoulders that could lock on to robots and people. I also noticed that there was an under-barrel rocket launcher under the mini-gun. The engineer explained the schematics in further detail.

-"You ready?" IF asked.

-"Let's do this."

     The entire facility went silent as I approached the back of the suit where I had to pull a hidden lever that would open the armor from the back. I pulled it. The hydraulics of the many opening pieces started to move and it opened. I looked over at IF who gave me a nod before I stepped in. As soon as I went in, the system said in a very robotic voice:"ALL SYSTEMS ONLINE, BRAIN WAVE SIGNAL SYNCHRONIZED, WELCOME ABOARD CAPTAIN.". I was a little nervous but I followed IF's instructions.

-"Aim at the targets and fire your micro-missile launcher."

     I nodded. I thought about the command and the launchers started locking on to the 30 moving targets in front of me. I watched as all the missiles flew straight at the targets. Each missile hit their designated target perfectly and I could hear the engineers and scientists cheering. IF moved the next target into place, It seemed really human, but it was just a hologram. 

-"Use your mini-gun to tear through their cover and hit them."

     I thought about the command once again and the mini-gun's barrel extended. I aimed at the cover the holograms were behind and I fired. Due to the explosive ammunition the mini-gun had no problem taking out the targets. The scientists and engineers cheered even louder.

-"Alright Riley, now you face something a bit different. Ready?"

-"Bring it on!" Confidence boiling within me.

     That's when IF shouted.

-"Bring it in!"

     Let's see this new opponent!

     IF is trying to kill me...There's a MOTHERFUCKING TANK RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME!

-"This is the rocket launcher test. Use your rockets to take out this tank. By the way, you can't use anything else."

That's around the time that my system said:"MINI-GUN DISABLED, MICRO-MISSILE LAUNCHER DISABLED, FOCUSING POWER TO ROCKET LAUNCHER."

     The tank adjusted its barrel and I heard a countdown timer start while steel walls surrounded the arena. Let's see how powerful this thing REALLY is! The tank fired its first shot and, seemingly in the blink of an eye, I ducked out of the way. The tank was rolling straight for me after that, I jumped and landed on top of the barrel and, using all my power, ripped it clean off. I then tore off the hatch on top. As I suspected, it's an RC tank, there was no-one in it. I fired a remote rocket inside the hatch and hopped off to a safe distance. 

-"Surprise motherfucker!"

     I pressed the button on my control panel and the rocket exploded with so much force that it blew the top right off! The walls lifted, scientists and engineers chanting my name. How did they know my name? I walked over to IF who had a look of complete shock on her face.

-"This thing was better than I expected. I'll be taking it home now and checking out it's new features."

-"R-right" IF said, stuttering.

     I got outside and wondered:"Can this thing fly?". I looked through the control panel on my left wrist and sure enough, I found a toggle button for "Rocket wings". I activated it and 2 wings with rocket thrusters at each end came out of the back of the suit. I thought about the command again and in a matter of seconds, I was about 2 kilometers in the air.

-"I'm gonna have to get used to this." I thought.

     I went back down, picked up my motorcycle with 1 hand and flew home.

-"My life is going to be a whole lot easier with this."

     I arrived home and went to sleep dreaming about the new power I possessed.
