Security Detail (Neptune x Writer)

The Attack (3 months later)

     Everyone was on high alert for the past few weeks since there's a rumor on the streets that "The Lava Diamond" gang is planing to assault the Basilicom soon. I report to my post and get my serious mode on. If something went down, I knew what to do since I was lectured for 2 hours by IF about the plan. Soon Neptune arrived and I heard them doing their normal thing, video games. It was about 1:30 when I heard a loud bang sound from the lobby. The alarms went crazy, my walkie-talkie exploded with support requests. I immediately entered the room and reinforced the door. Neptune spoke up

-"Looks like the rumors were true!"

-"Stay where you are, if I go down, at least I'll go down protecting you."

     I kept on hearing the members of "The Lava Diamond" getting closer. At this point though, my fear got the best of me and I reinforced the entire room. There was no way they'd be getting through those with standard breaching charges. I don't know much about the hardware these guys use though. The room was silent for 45 minutes until I heard voices outside the room. 

*THUMP THUMP THUMP*

     My heart was beating until I finally heard them planting something on the door......I knew exactly what it was. It was the charges those guys were known for. XS1 Plasma grade cutting charges. An explosive device that was designed to blast plasmic energy into the surface it was on, weakening it, then finally setting off a detonation that is equivalent to 5 C4 charges. Time was running out as the plasma was cutting through, I had to be ready for anything they threw at me. All of my training will be shown to Neptune in this moment. This is it...

*BANG*

The C4 went off, a barrage of bullets went through and although they were missing, I could still tell they had a pretty high-end arsenal. One of them finally came inside and I did not have any hesitation to put him down...

     One shot is all it took. He was dead on the floor with blood coming out of his forehead. Many more came in and I didn't stop firing. Most went down, others got into cover fast enough it was like a small war room in there. Eventually, the last of them were dead. I checked the area to make sure it was clear. I radioed downstairs and the assault seemed to be over. 

-"We're good. Neptune, Nepgear, we gotta get you to the safe room!"

-"Ignore that for now!" Nepgear said 

-"You're hit..." 

-"I know, it'll heal in time. For now, get to that safe room!"

     We were evacuated from the building and after those 2 were secured, medics brought me to the nursing center. I felt my mind slip into unconsciousness. 

-"--ey!"

-"uuggh..."

-"Hey! He's waking up!"

     I remembered that voice.

-"Riley!"

     That was Compa! My eyes suddenly snapped open and I took a deep breath of air.

-"Woah, woah, slow down. Recovery from surgery takes time."

-"H-how am I still alive?"

     Compa gave me a sweet smile and said:

-"I cured you!"

-"You saved me?"

-"Yup!"

-"Wow, thank you Compa!"

-"Nep-Nep's here to see you!"

-"Nep-Nep?"

     It was then that Neptune arrived at the door.

-"Hey Riley! How are you feeling?"

-"Better now."

     IF walked in and gave me an apologetic smile.

-"You did good man...you did good"

     I could start to see tears streaming down her face. So she did care. I looked at the spot the bullet hit me. There was a scar from the stitches and it still hurt a little bit.

-"So...what now?"

-"...I'll tell you what happens now. We rebuild and reinforce the iron fist of the law! Now that we got a lot of new recruits, we train 'em! And we show all the gangs out there that Planeptune is not to be underestimated ever again!" IF declared.

                                                                                          *2 hours later*

I arrived back home. I took my painkillers and, as always, flopped onto my bed and let my body rest.
