A platinum-blonde sat in a cave. She kept her distance from a man with the hair of midnight, the same color as his wings. The said man looked at the fire, giving them light in the dark cave.
The man sighed. "You know," He started. "I'm sorry for having to do that to you." He smiled, looking up at her. "I needed to talk to you, and get my brother's as well as the other dragons' attention."
"What do you mean?" She asked. Pulling the hem of her skirt down, hiding her skin. Zeref smiled. He took off his cloak, and wrapped it around Lucy. "T-Thank you very much, sir." She thanked him.
"Zeref. Please call me Zeref," He said. "Anyways, I'm also a dragon. Just like the other six. My name is Zeref Dragneel. Brother of Natsu, also runaway heir of the fire kingdom. The reason I took you away, was because I need to warn you. You need to be wary whenever you're with them."
"Why? I've been with them. They're. . nice in a way." Lucy said. Remembering the times when they would act all tough around her, then she would respond with a ton of attitude.
Zeref sighed. "Well, have they been touchy or close to you in a way?" Lucy nodded, hesitantly. Cobra had kissed her, Natsu was going all. . . flirty. Well, long story short: They were getting flirty. "It's happening pretty fast." Zeref said to himself. His hand cupping his chin.
"Pardon?" Lucy inquired. Not hearing his incoherent words.
"Dragon mating season," He said bluntly. "It's the reason why girls are sacrificed to them, y'know. It's for mating season. It only happens once in a lifetime for them. Day by day, minute by minute, second by second; they're going to become more protective of you. It could hurt you and them. I advise you to be alert with them. They'll watch your every move. Now, there are three stages to this dragon mating shenanigan.
"Stage One: They'll start to grow more clingy, flirty, and protective of you. Those six are just getting to this stage," Zeref sighed in relief.
"Stage Two: They'll basically stalk you. When you're not there, they would fight with each other over you. They'll act as if you're their mate. Even though you aren't. Yet. I suppose," He paused.
"H-How can I avoid this. . ?" Lucy asked. A bit frightened.
"You can't. Unless. . . you die. Or go somewhere else where they can't find you or sense you. I took off your anklet. Just in case." Zeref pointed to her ankle. The golden anklet with the colorful gems, were gone! Zeref had left it in the forest far away from them, so it would throw off the six dragon kings. Well, that's what Zeref thought.
"Stage Three: This is the most dangerous stage. T--" Zeref was cut off by six dragons yelling.
"ZEREF! YOU BASTARD!" The pinkette yelled. Zeref cussed under his breath. He swept Lucy and started zooming out of the cave.
"LET GO OF HER, ZEREF!" Gajeel shouted.
"Z-Zeref. . . ," Lucy whispered. The black dragon looked at her.
"I'm only able to use the protection spell on you once. After I put the spell on you; no one can put in on again. Though, this won't last long. Use this spell to run away from those six," He leaned in close. "Stay safe, Lucy." He kissed her gently on her forehead. She turned bright crimson. She felt light-headed and something came surging through her veins.
"Gotcha!" Cobra exclaimed. Shanking Zeref's wings with a sword. Zeref gasped. He started wobbling through the air. Lucy squealed in fright. Zeref did his best to slowly glide down without hurting the maiden in his arms. He was in pain. Once down, the six kings grabbed Lucy away from Zeref. The black dragon laid weakly there.
"You got some nerve, Zeref." Rogue hissed. Stabbing Zeref's other wing. Making him gasp in pain. Lucy looked up at the dragons. Their eyes looked. . different. They were all green. Which scared Lucy. She looked down at Zeref, who was reaching his hand out for her. He had blood coming out of his mouth.
"GAH!" Zeref exclaimed when Natsu stepped on his brother's hand. Rubbing it deeply with his heel.
"You end here, Zeref." The six dragon kings hissed. The dragons' claws became longer than usual. It extended and was sharper.
Lucy looked at Zeref. He was saying something. Her eyes were dull. She laid motionless on the grass. Staring at Zeref. She wanted to get up and tell the six to not kill Zeref! But, no. The spell Zeref put on her made her feel weak.
"Adieu, Lucy." She heard Zeref murmur louder.
In a heartbeat; the six dragons lunged their arms back, then thrust their claws at the poor, helpless dragon. Lucy's dull eyes widened. Blood spat everywhere.
"Gah!" Zeref shouted in pure pain. Blood came out of the places where he was stabbed in. Thirty stabs by six dragons. He knew this is what he deserved. He smiled sadly. Letting his last breath fly free. Leaving him lifeless. His hair, clothes, and body was stained with his blood.
The dragons took their claws away from Zeref. Shrinking their claws. "Lucy!" They exclaimed.
Their blood-stained hands touched her. She was frightened. More frightened than when she was stolen and when she was sacrificed. She saw six dragons--whom she trusted--kill a man right before her. Now, blood was dripping on their hands. She wanted to scream and run away from them, but her body didn't allow her to. Tears started flowing out.
"Lucy! Don't cry!" Natsu held her close in his arms.
"He won't hurt you anymore. Nothing and no one will." Rogue said. Fondling with her hands.
"Don't be afraid." Sting said. Hugging her as well.
"We're here for you." Gajeel said. Raking a stray hair away.
"You'll be fine." Cobra said. Rubbing "soothing" circles on her back.
"You're safe with us." Laxus said. Caressing her cheek.
You're safe with us. Lucy wasn't at all sure about that. Six dragons who killed another dragon, were holding her. Cradling her in their arms. She was scared for her life. All she did was stare at the lifeless corpse before her.
"I'm sorry." She mumbled. Fully knowing that Zeref had good intentions of trying to keep her safe from the six murderers holding her now. She now hopes that the protection spell will last long enough for her to run away.
