Chapter 1.2

The rest of the day went by rather quickly. Me and Roc finished our assignment without saying another thing to each other. I sensed something wrong, but just couldn't put my finger on it.

"So, you want to go out or something?" Torrance asked as he grabbed my things from my locker.

"No. I'm not really in the mood. " I replied.

"Oh come on Yannie," Torrance said using my nickname. "It's Friday. Have a little fun. "

"I can't and besides, I just want to chill out. " I told her. I slammed my locker shut and locked the combination lock on the locker.

"Fine." She moaned. "I'll be on my way. Call me later, okay?"

"Alright. " I said and we went our separate ways.

As I reached into my purse to grab my keys, I saw Roc and his brothers. I watched them, all wearing a hoodie, walk to a familiar black car with very dark tented windows. I watched them all get into the car.

I've embarrassed myself enough today so I just ignored and continued down the high school parking lot where my car was.

On my way there, I thought I heard something fall. I turned around to see what it was but I saw nothing. I turned around and saw Roc standing right infront of me holding my wallet.

"Shit!" I shouted. He appeared out if no where. "Damn, you scared the hell out of me. "

"I'm sorry. You dropped your wallet. " He said.

I took my wallet away from him and decided to answer the question I've been dreading since I've seen him.

"Why do you and your brothers where those big hoodies all the time? It's damn near 90 degrees out here. " I asked. He looked at me.

"Bye Ayana. " He said turning around. I grabbed him by his hand to stop him.

They were rather cold. I ignored it.

"How did you know I dropped my wallet?" I asked.

"I saw it when it fell. "

"But you were in the car all the way on the other side of the parking lot. How did you get over here so fast?"

"What did I tell you happened to the cat?" He smiled, showing his beautifully sharp teeth.

"Seriously Roc. " I said once again stopping him from walking away. "Were you following me or something to get over here so fast?"

He laughed as if I told the funniest joke in the world.

"I run track." He laughed. With that being said, he walked into the car his brothers were in and they sped off.

"He runs track. " I said to myself. I feel so stupid.

I continued to my car and drove home. I finally arrived there, my 23 year old brother laying on the sofa.

"Where's dad?" I asked him.

"Hungover. " He answered sternly, paying no attention to me.

Every since our mother left us, my dad has been drinking uncontrollably. My brother was forced to take over and provide for us while me dad sat around drunk all day.

I rolled my eyes and continued up to my room. I walked up to my window and opened my blinds that's been closed since last night.

I looked across the street and there it was. The same black car from the school parking lot.

The same black car I saw Roc and his brothers walking to.

The same black car Roc got back in after he handed me my wallet.

I watched as the four brothers got out the car and walked into the seemingly dark house. Maybe it looked dark because of the distance I was looking.

I looked at the windows and noticed their blinds were closed. No one bothered to open them either. I walked over to my bed and plopped down. My phone began to ring.

"Hello?" I answered not even looking at the caller ID.

"Hey, Yannie. Did you get the homework assignment from Mr. Rynes?" Torrance asked.

She also had Mr. Rynes. She just had him a different hour.

"Yes. Just do page 119. " I sighed. She never pays attention in class.

"Okay. Thanks. "

"Wait, Torrance. Guess who I paired up with in his class today?" I asked her. She was silent for a moment.

"Who?" She asked.

"Chresanto August. " I said.

"Wait a minute. " She said in a surprised tone. "You paired with Roc?"

"Yup. "

"OMG. What happened? Did he even talk to you?" Torrance asked sounding kind of anxious.

"It was kind if awkward at first but yeah. He wasn't super nice though. But the weirdest things were happening. " I said.

"Well, come on. Give me the deeds. "

"He looked as if he were trying to read my mind. I told him that I had to use the bathroom and he told me that I didn't and predicted that Mr. Rynes would tell me no if I asked could I go. "

"And did he say no?"

"Yes. And not only that. I watched him and his brothers get into the car right? So I walked to mine but I ended up dropping my wallet. I turned around but nothing was there. I turned back around and guess who was standing right infront of me holding my wallet?"

"Roc?" She asked.

"Uh-huh. " I nodded as if she could see me.

"That's weird." She laughed. "It's like you guys are meant to be together. "

"What?" I asked. "How you figure that?"

"I don't know. But doesn't that last part sound kind of familiar?" She asked. I grabbed the bag of chips I had on my nightstand and started to eat them.

"Familiar how?"

"It's almost the exact same thing that happened on Twilight." She said. I stopped eating my chips.

"T you know I don't watch that movie." I reminded her. I hated that movie, even though I've never actually watched it.

"Oh yeah. I forgot. " She giggled. "All I'm saying is, keep your eye on him. He's probably a vamp. "

"Vampires aren't real. " I said as I tilted my head to the side. "You're being over dramatic. "

"Not according to Twilight. "

I instantly hung up on her. She was being ridiculous.
