Halfway home, after leaving Brady's house, I saw her.

Lilli was sitting on the grass, breathing heavily, when she saw me pass by. She raised up her camera to take a picture and inhaled quickly, calling out for me.

I practically fell off my bicycle in shock and whoa she looked so happy to see me! I knew I was probably smiling like a maniac, but I didn't care. I tried to tell her I'd be right back, but I'm not sure if she could understand. I started pedaling faster, trying to get home
before she left.

My mom was sitting on the porch when I sped up, and she practically threw her cup of coffee at me, yelling that if I didn't slow down she'd whip my tail. I laughed, jumping off and running through the front doors. I grabbed a Walmart bag and stuffed whatever food I could get my hands on into it. Then I grabbed a few bottles of water and ran back onto the porch where my mom was waiting expectantly.

"What on Earth are you doing?" She asked, eyeing my bag of assorted who-knows-what. I winked at her.

"Picnic with Lilli, well if she's still there," I said, finishing uncertainly. My mom clapped her hands together and grabbed a flower out of her flower pot. She handed it to me.

"Make sure to smile, and try not to break anything on that bike," she said, kissing my cheek. I nodded and kissed hers back, and hopped back on my bicycle.

Come on, Lilli, please still be there.

I'm not really sure why I waited. He wasn't coming back.

I got up, sighing, and started to walk up the sidewalk. After getting about five feet, I heard a desperate yelp as Mason screeched to a stop on his bicycle, barely swerving in time. I gave a tiny shout, flinching, and he jumped off and walked over to me, panting.

"Thank goodness you're still here," he breathed, staring at me intensely. I could feel my face heating up.

"Oh, yeah. I was kind of hoping you'd come back. I'm gla- wait what's that?" I said, breaking off from my nervous rambling to see a bag of, well, I'm not really sure what. He flashed me a nervous smile and ran a hand through his hair.

"Well I just- um I brought a picnic," he said, blinking like crazy. I smiled at his nervousness. He was so cute. He glanced at me, looking extremely uncomfortable.

"A...picnic?" I asked, not sure what was happening.

"So, well, would you maybe like to have a picnic? Together?" He asked, rushing through the sentence and staring at me, hopeful.

"Are you asking me on a date?" I asked, feigning confusion. He smiled, unsure.

"Lilli, will you go on a date with me?" he asked, handing me a beautiful yellow tulip. I grinned uncontrollably as I replied:

"Nothing would make me happier."
