Chapter 3

The next few weeks go by fast and I get a lot closer to the pack. I've found out the names of the council members I started paying a lot of attention and from what I can tell they're here because of me. I've also found nicknames for some of the pack as well.

I wake up and move so my face is in the crook of JJ's neck. I wrap my arms around her torso and sigh. We haven't told any of the pack that we are mates expect for Ali and Kelley. They are our roommates and in our room is the only place we can act like a couple so we had to tell them. Finding your mate is a big deal but we both agreed to keep it to ourselves for now.

We've gotten caught a few times the girls calling us out on being to touchy and stuff but we can't help it. Julie and I being on top of each other is only going to get worst especially when we mark each other.

Its Friday and the bell for the last period of the day rings. Finally! I've been waiting for the weekend I'm so ready to sleep in. School has been super stressful and the more I come to school the more I wonder why I'm here. JJ has been helping me feel better about everything that's been going on. She's really been my rock these last few weeks.

Like usual Morgan and I meet everyone outside. I see JJ and I immediately want to pull her in for a hug, but I don't. We walk next to each other as we make our way into the forest. On Fridays we take our time instead of running home like we normally would. I hear a noise so I stop walking. I guess I'm not the only one who heard because we all mind link.

"Did you guys hear that?" Ali ask.

"Yeah." I say.

"Guys, I'm scared." Morgan whines.

"Hey, we are all together okay. Let's just keep walking and get home." Alex says.

We all agree its time to start running, but before we can I sense something and push DeAndre to the ground. Just in time too because an arrow comes flying past us.

"Guys its hunters run!" John yells.

As we start running I hear gun shots. The Omegas aren't as fast as the rest of the us so we try to keep them to the front of the pack. The hunters aren't on foot I think they're on motorcycles by the sound. Once we turn around the bend and pass the river the hunters won't be able to follow us anymore. I hear the sound of water easing my nerves a little. We're going to make it. I then hear Julie scream out in pain and I can feel the anger boiling inside of me.

"Julie!" Syd screams.

"Guys, keep going and get the rest of the pack. I'll stay with Julie." I say.

"We aren't leaving you guys behind!" Megan yells.

"Hey, this isn't up for debate! Go, NOW!" I yell.

As much as they didn't want to the rest of the pack keeps running. The shots get closer and as scared as I am I can't think about me I have to focus on protecting Julie. She got shot in the arm and is losing a lot of blood. I rip off a piece of my shirt off and tie the cloth around her arm causing Julie to groan. As much as I hate seeing her in pain I have to slow the bleeding somehow.

"Mal, I'm scared." Julie whimpers.

"I'm not going to let anything happen to you, I promise."

Julie nods her head and I wipe the tears off her face. I hear the vehicles getting closer and I sense the hunters on them. I'm going to protect my mate at all costs. I shift but this time I feel different something isn't right. Julie groans and hearing her in pain fuels something inside of me. The hunters get off their bikes and start to attack me there are five of them so I have to be quick. I run at the first one and when I get close enough I rip out his heart. I use his body as a shield as the next hunter shoots at me. I charge at him and twist his head off his body. There are still three more and two of them are making there way towards Julie. I don't know what I do but all three hunters start to cry out in pain. They drop their weapons and drop to the ground clutching their heads for dear life.

"Please make it stop!"

"Ahh!"

I start speaking in this language I don't remember learning to speak and next thing I know all of the hunters are dead. I turn around and the whole pack is standing there. I feel like all the energy in my body is gone and I collapse. Before I hit the ground Hope comes over and catches me.

"She's the one." Jill says.

"After all these years we've found her." Abby says.

"We need to get her and Julie back to the house." Hope says.

Hope has Tobin carry JJ back to the house. I lay my head on Hope's shoulder and close my eyes. I feel like I haven't slept in years so I fall into a deep sleep.
