Lost & Found

Chapter 5

Mal's POV

I open my eyes and close them immediately, the light makes them burn. I sit up and every part of my body aches I can't take it anymore and start whimpering. Soon my parents, Hope, and JJ are at my side.

"What's wrong?" Mom ask.

"I don't feel good, my body hurts." I respond.

"Well that's what happens when your sleep for a week." Dad says.

"What?" I ask.

"Mal you were sleeping for a week and this is the first time you've gotten up." Hope says.

They help me get out of the bed and bring me downstairs to Ali whose in the living room. I lay down and she puts her hands on me. It takes awhile but when she's done I feel a hell of a lot better. I go into the kitchen where everyone else is. When I walk in everyone stops talking. I give them a confused look before sitting in my normal seat. I get a plate and start eating I'm super hungry. I look up and see everyone starring at me.

"What I'm hungry." I mumble.

"Some things never change." Megan says.

Everyone laughs I see the council members are still here but I don't know why.

"You'll find out later for now get your strength back." Ash says.

"You know I really hate the fact that your in my head." I say.

"Don't worry you'll get use to it." Ash says.

The both of us laugh and everyone looks at us weird. We continue to eat and we all help put the dishes away.

"So when were you and Julie going to tell us you guys were mates?" Hope ask.

"Um...I mean..." I stutter.

I look over at JJ and she's super red which causes me to smirk at her. After everyone is done teasing and congratulating us we go into the living room. I sit on the couch and wrap my arms around JJ. The council members, my parents, and Hope come into the living room. They send everyone else except JJ to their rooms.

"What's going on?" I ask.

"Do you remember what happened before you went to sleep?" Heather ask.

"Um I remember being really angry and then Hope carrying me." I say.

"Well there isn't an easy way to tell you this, but your not who you think you are." Becky says.

"What do you mean?" I ask.

"You are the protector." Whitney says.

I look at them and start laughing.

"You mean the stories that you hear as a kid? Your telling me I'm going to save the world or something?" I ask.

"Look I know this is a lot to handle but you need to accept this. The sooner that happens the sooner you will learn how to master your powers." Amy says.

"You guys are crazy." I say.

I try to leave but Mom stops me.

"Move."

"Mal you need to listen to this." Mom says.

"This is crazy your telling me that I'm suppose to be some hero that I was told to be a myth."

I try to leave but my Mom grabs my arm.

"Get off of me." I growl.

"Mal just listen." Dad says.

This just makes me angry I can feel my blood pumping. Dad comes over and grabs my other arm. I have no clue what I do but next thing I know my parents are crying out in pain. Just like the hunters were when JJ got hurt.

"What's happening?" I ask.

"Your powers are out of control that's why we're here to help you control it." Lori says.

"I can't stop it." I yell.

Julie comes over and take my hands, "Hey look at me just breathe you can do it."

I don't know what but something clicks and my parents are no longer yelling. I turn around the the rest of the pack is standing there watching. I look at my parents and they have tears streaming down their face.

"I'm sorry."

"You didn't mean to do it." Mom says.

"I don't want to hurt you guys anymore."

Before anyone can say anything I'm out the door. I just need time to process this I mean its a lot to handle. I know they can find me if they really wanted to but someone must have told them to let me be. I go to the spot where Julie and I meet at when I can't sleep or we just want to talk. I sit on the rock and just listen to the water flow. I stay here for a while not thinking about anything specific. I sense someone coming but calm down when I take in their scent its JJ. She doesn't say anything she just comes and wraps her arms around me and puts her chin on my shoulder.

"How's your arm?" I ask.

"I'm fine I should be asking you how your doing." JJ says.

"I don't know."

"And that's okay just don't shut me out I'm here for you."

"Thank you."

"Anytime now do you wanna go back home or do you want to stay here for a while longer?"

"I just want to be with you."

We both stay at the river and watch the sunset. We head back to the house when we hear Hope call for us. I walk into the house and go to the council members.

"So what happens now?" I ask.

"Now you learn everything there is about being the protector." Abby says.

"But the road ahead won't be easy it will be everything but easy." Shannon responds.

"Are you ready?" Jill ask.

"Yeah.

Or at least I hope I am.
