Luka looked up at us as we approached his table, and flashed us a 100 Watt smile that could've have blinded a person. Heck, his smile drove all thoughts away from my mind. I was probably just staring at him like a mindless idiot
"Hi!", Jin said, rather enthusiastically. "I'm Jin!"
"Hi, Jin. I'm Luka", he said, extending his hand.
"I know~" , she replied, accepting his extended hand. "And this-", she pointed at me, " -is Annaleise."
"Nice to meet you," he said. I was still dazed from his smile and all I managed to do was nod at him. Jin rolled her eyes and elbowed me. THAT more or less snapped me out of it.
Luka snickered at us. Huh. Guess he saw that.
"Mind if we sit with you?", Jin asked.
"Not at all." He gestured for us to sit down. There were only two other chairs at his table; one next to him, and one across from him.
I moved to sit in the chair across from Luka, but as quick as I was, Jin was quicker still. She beat me to the seat and looked at me innocently. I gave her an annoyed look and sat next to Luka.
"So, Luka..." I turned to face him.
"Yea?"
"Have we met before?", I asked. I just had to know. I mean, I was sitting next to a person who looked EXACTLY like my 'prince'. Was it just a coincidence? Was it fate? Or had I seen him somewhere before and my mind had somehow used his image in my dream?
"Yes. Once upon a dream", he replied.
"Huh?", I said, not so intelligently. I was lost in my own thoughts, but I thought I heard him say something about a dream. "I'm sorry. I didn't catch that. Could you repeat what you said?"
He chuckled but didn't bother to repeat himself.
Ohhhhhkaaaayyyy... I shared a look with Jin, and she mouthed to me, 'Weird'. I nodded.
"Where were you before you moved here?" Jin asked Luka, clearly starting her 'detective work'.
"Just here and there", he replied with a nonchalant wave of his hand. Hmmm, that was an evasive answer.
"And what brought you here, exactly?"
"A feeling", he said, casting a look at me.
"So you make decisions based on nothing but feelings?", Jin asked, sounding more and more like an interviewer by the moment.
Luka chuckled. "Well, sometimes. Only when I've got a VERY strong feeling about something. "
Jin continued barraging him with questions and I asked an odd question now and then.. Luka sat through all of this patiently and answered us as best as he could.
Eventually, I glanced at my watch and realised that we'd been there talking with Luka for nearly two hours.
"We'd better go now," I told Luka and Jin. " It's getting pretty late and I still have to drop Jin at her place".
Jin looked little disappointed that she had to cut her 'interrogation' short.
"Okay. So I'll see you later, then," Luka said to me, with a smile.
"Later? You mean in school, tomorrow?", I asked.
"Uuhhh...Yea, sure. Of course. Tomorrow in school," he agreed hastily.
Jin and I said our goodbyes and left.
