Chapter 12

"Enough! Let her go!"

The voice didn't register in my brain. All I could think of was the pain. It was consuming my every thought.

"ENOUGH!"

This time the commanding voice broke through the pain induced haze I was in. I recognized that voice. I would have recognized that voice ANYWHERE.

It was my prince! He'd come to save me.

The wolf immediately released its hold on me and crouched to the floor, whimpering; tail between its legs. I crumpled to the ground, on the verge of unconsciousness from the pain and loss of blood.

"What do you think you're doing?!", he asked, his voice filled with anger. He ran over to me, knelt to the ground and pulled me into his arms. "Annaleise! Annaleise! Are you alright?" he asked in a frantic tone, shaking me slightly.

I groaned and mumbled, "I'm bleeding from a bite wound. I don't think anyone would be alright given the circumstances".

He let out a small chuckle, but his face was still etched with worry. "I'm gonna do something, okay? It'll hurt for a bit but it'll only be for a little while."

I nodded. He was probably going to tie my arm up tightly.

He put his hand on my wound and suddenly, I felt a searing pain. I let out a scream that ended with a whimper.

He released his grip on my arm and held me close. "Shhh... It's ok. It's alright. You're gonna be okay, it's over now."

I looked down at my arm and saw blood but... there was no wound there. I was about to ask him what he did when I was interrupted.

"UGH! You ALWAYS spoil my fun, Luka!", said a voice. I turned around a little and saw that it was the same weird girl as before. She jumped nimbly off from one of the branches of a tree close to us.

She was here the whole time? And she didn't help me? I was starting to get pissed.

It was only then that something else registered in my mind. She had called my prince 'Luka'. Was that a coincidence or was my brain playing tricks on me?

I turned to ask him whether that really was his name, but he had turned his attention to the girl.
