"Kellin! Let us in!" I hear buzzer sound, telling me that Alan and Justin had arrived at my house and were waiting for me to buzz them in. I buzzed them in and waited for them to come up the elevator and knock on the door. The second I heard them knock, I went and unlocked the door for them.
"Got any food?" Justin asked straight away, not bothering to greet me properly.
"Hello to you too greedy, and yes I do," I said. While he went and raided my fridge, Alan said hey and went to sit on the couch.
"So did you hear about Matty siding with Jesse?" Alan said.
"Whatever he's nothing but a dick," Justin said from inside the kitchen.
"Which one, Matty or Jesse?" Alan asked.
"Both," Justin said coming into the living room with a bowl of left over Chinese noodles from last night's dinner.
"Wait wait. . . Siding with him?" I said. I knew that Matty and Jesse knew each other, but what is there to side with?
"Matty thinks Jesse is right about using Justin," Alan says.
"What the hell?" I said shocked.
"Exactly."
"What good is there in creating drama like that? What point is it going to prove?" I asked like there is no obvious answer.
"Maybe it was because he wanted to prove that whores like us shouldn't fall in love?" Alan suggested.
"That's fucking stupid. Justin is a human too. He deserves to have feelings just as much as the next guy," I said getting frustrated.
"When you're like us, its a little bit different though Kellin," Justin said trying to defend the two, now companions, Matty and Jesse. But there is no justification for what Jesse did, and Matty shouldn't be agreeing with him either.
"Because we are essentially nothing but objects to the world? We aren't important anymore? What the hell do you think women have been fighting for for all this time?" I said, borderline yelling.
"Kellin, relax. It really isn't that big of a deal. I knew what I was getting into when I 'took' this job. It's my fault for falling for him."
"You can't help the way you feel though," I said stubbornly.
"You're right, and that's exactly why I should have dropped him a long time ago, but I was stupid and I didn't, and look where it landed me," he said soft. He was talking soft because he wanted me to feel like this is okay, but no matter how much they try to convince me I will never think its okay. But for now so I don't get too heated and start throwing punches, I take a deep breath and nod my head.
"God, but how could you have fell for such and ass hole?" I asked.
"I. . . I don't know the answer to that," he said.
"Kellin what has gotten into you?" Alan asked. He had been quietly observing the heated part of our conversation between Justin and I, not saying anything until it was over.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"I mean you never were this short tempered with this subject before, so now why all of a sudden?" He questioned.
"I don't know?" I said.
"There has to be a reason why."
"I just. . . Matty really gets under my skin sometimes."
