Marzia screamed and crawled away from her deceased boyfriend. He-it-grabbed onto her ankle and make a strange gurgling sound.
The community went into total chaos. People were screaming and trampling one another to get away from the monstrosity on board. They headed for the stairwell that led to the Top Deck, hoping that they'd be safe there. Chapin and her lackeys lost sight of the zombie in the throng of the people, so their special weapons-guns-were of no use.
The Yogscast members didn't join the crowd, instead they helped their friend back on her feet. Joakim kicked Felix's once charming head away from Marzia. The zombie loosened his grip on the Italian girl's ankle, letting her kick her way free. Zoey held out her hands, and Marzia grabbed onto them she and helped the other girl to her feet.
"Let's go!" Lewis shouted, and the six ran towards the Top Deck.
One small girl, at about the age of seventeen, ran past the zombie. It grabbed onto her already-torn skirt, and pulled her down. The once-YouTuber grabbed her arm and bit. The girl screamed as it sunk it's hand into her stomach. Then her eyes glazed over and she was silent.
Marzia turned her head as tears formed in her eyes and bile rose in her throat.
The six managed to climb up the stairway by hanging on to each other's arms and hands. The door leading to the Top Deck was locked, and many people were banging on it. A little window in the door opened, and Chapin's brown eyes looked through. When she saw the six YouTubers, her gaze darkened, and she lifted the hatch.
"Get in here." She said, her voice so icy and dark that it made everyone freeze. The YouTubers cautiously walked through the door, only to have the door locked behind them and a red-cheeked Chapin glaring at them. A couple more men stood with their arms crossed, along with a woman with red hair standing in a corner.
"Who," Chapin said, teeth clenched. "Was that?"
"My...." Marzia began. She hiccupped. "F-Felix."
"And what was wrong with him?" Chapin said.
"We didn't know what was wrong with him." Hannah stood up. "We only knew he was sick."
"HE WAS SICK WITH THE VIRUS!" Chapin yelled. "AND NOW HE'S SPREAD THE VIRUS WHILE WE'RE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE OCEAN!"
Marzia sobbed and hid behind the other five.
"HAVE YOU ANY IDEA OF WHAT YOU'VE DONE?!" Chapin continued.
"We had no idea he was bitten!" Lewis countered.
"How was it not obvious?! He clearly showed the signs!" Chapin argued.
"MAYBE WE HOPED IT WASN'T TRUE!" Marzia yelled back, stepping in front of the group. Tears ran down her face. "Maybe we hoped it wasn't true. Maybe we wanted him to live, and be like he was before."
At this, Chapin stopped. Her cheeks were still red, but looked more flustered then angry. The red head walked up and put a hand on her shoulder.
"Chapin, let it go. They didn't mean any harm." She said.
Chapin closed her eyes and took deep breaths. Then she straightened herself.
"Apologies. I understand that you didn't mean to bring the virus-" Her eyes widened then she turned her attention to where everyone was once sitting. "Oh my god! The virus is on board!"
She ran over to where the Top Deck can look down at the lower deck. There were atleast three corpses at the feet of the zombie, and the very monster was eating from them, blood covering it's face as it shoved chunks of meat into it's mouth.
"Quick, hand me my sniper." Chapin said, while keeping a complete eye on the zombie.
"Sorry, Chapin, but your sniper's broken." Said one of the men.
"What?! How?!" Chapin said, turning around.
"The last time someone tried to take us over, one broke your sniper. We only have pistols left." Said another man.
"Sh*t." Chapin muttered. She took one of the pistols the community had left and aimed. She shot, but missed. The zombie looked up, eyes scanning around the area.
"What should we do?" Joakim asked.
"I think you've done enough already." Chapin snapped. "Just go back down where everyone else is. I'll take care of this."
Before the six YouTubers got to walk out the door, a scream pierced the air. All heads snapped back to the lower deck.
The zombie had noticed the crowd of people in the stairway, and had limped over to them. He managed to start snacking on the fifty people there, and all those fifty people had no weapons.
"Looks like you all will be staying up here." The red head said, looking over to the six.
"It seems like it." Liam murmured.
"By the way, I'm Lonnie." The red head held out her hand. One by one, the six shook hands with her and introduce themselves.
"So who was 'Felix'?" Lonnie asked. Chapin and the other men leaped over the railing of the Top Deck with pistols at their sides. You could see the three corpses on the Lower Deck start to move, then get up as one of the undead.
"Felix was," Hannah started, taking a cautious look at Marzia. She gave a tiny nod. "He was a YouTuber, like us. And he lived with Marzia, here."
Lonnie turned her attention to Marzia. They could hear gunshots ringing out below them.
"Was Felix.... special to you?" Lonnie asked, tone gentle. Marzia nodded her head, fresh tears gathering in her eyes. "That's all I need to know; I won't pry. You said you were YouTubers?"
"Yeah, we are." Lewis said. "These four and I have YouTube channels called the 'Yogscast'. Marzia does her own YouTube channel."
"That's interesting." Lonnie said, actually not showing any interest at all. She smiled at Liam. "What do you do?"
"I make gaming videos, too. I work with them; Lewis just said that." Liam said, raising an eyebrow.
Lonnie frowned, and walked over to the rail.
"What was that about?" Liam asked.
"She's totally into you." Zoey said nonchalantly.
"What?!" Liam exclaimed.
"Yup, it's obvious. She flashed her smile and fluttered her eye lashes at you." Hannah chuckled. "It's what teenagers would usually do when they see a hot boy. Never thought a woman in her twenties would be doing that, though."
"Oh, god." Liam rolled his eyes. "I hope she'll get over it."
"Uh, I don't know about that, friend." Lewis said, gesturing to Lonnie. She peered over her shoulder, smiled at Liam, and winked.
"I'm going to hide behind you all now." He said, falling behind the other five. Marzia, through her veil of sadness, even chuckled.
They walked over to the rail, and looked down at the chaos below, Lonnie getting too close to Liam for comfort.
Apparently, most of the people had been murdered. There were more zombies, and the four people who had weapons tried to get as many undead people as possible. The crowd now were running around the deck, screaming. The zombies limped, trying to catch up to the fast food(hardy har har), and even managed to grab some. That just made more zombies.
Then there was banging on the door. At first, the people who were on the Top Deck thought it was just more people who wanted to be safe. Then they heard the groaning and growling. The door was sturdy, but that didn't mean it was impenetrable to zombies.
"Are they going to break through?!" Joakim asked.
"I don't know! Are there any weapons?!" Liam suggested.
"Over there!" Lonnie pointed to a stack of random items in the corner of the room. Then she winked. Liam rolled his eyes.
The group ran over to the pile and picked a weapon. Soon, they stood outside the door, weapons at the ready.
And that's when the door broke.
