Yes, I know; where did all the chapters go? I deleted them. I didn't like where the story was going. I want to re-do what I've done. I don't like what I'm doing with Lewis, so I'm going to try something else that probably would make more sense.
As for the people who hadn't read the chapters I had deleted, just enjoy the story and forget I said anything. :)
This was supposed to be out on Christmas, but I can't keep it away any longer! And anyways, the next chapter will be equally as long. ;) Merry Christmas my goonies! <3
Enjoy!

The group at the table continued on with their conversations. At about noon, they started to pack up their gear in small bundles. Ethan had the cases of guns, Zoey and Joakim had the food wrapped in a blanket, and Caleb and Liam had the rest of the blankets and water. They shook Lewis awake, and had him carry the plastic bags. He followed the others in a clouded daze, doing what they told him, but never making eye contact. He never spoke.
"Where should we go from here?" Zoey asked. She walked over to the torn window, now blocked with a chair, and instantly recoiled. "Not out there. Chapin caused a whole bunch of them over to this side of the city."
"What about the roof?" Caleb asked. "We could use something like a bridge, or maybe jump."
"I am not jumping from roof to roof with hordes of zombies below me," Chris said, shaking his head.
"Then a bridge," Liam said. "It might be the only way. If your not jumping, we'll get a bridge."
"And what exactly will we use as a bridge?" Joakim asked.
"What about those?" Caleb points to a closet near the back of the room. The doors were long and thin, going from floor to ceiling.
The group turned to examine the closet.
"Could work," Ethan said. "But is it long enough?"
"We'll just have to try," Zoey said. "If it isn't long enough, we'll have to jump."
Ethan and Joakim managed to pull the doors from the hinges, which was surprisingly easy. After they got the planks of wood, the group looked around for an entrance to the roof.
"There should a stairway, right? And shouldn't the stairway lead up to the roof?" Liam suggested.
"Should be," Ethan answered. "Look around."
Caleb and Liam went one way, Zoey and Joakim another, leaving Ethan with Lewis. The later was sitting down at the table, seeming in his own thoughts.
Ethan looked over Lewis. It was pretty obvious the other didn't sleep well; there were dark circles around the other's eyes, and it looked like the other man aged a few years in a day. It was quite disturbing, and Ethan had to take a step back when Lewis turned his head to look at him. His eyes looked vacant and cold.
"Hey!" Caleb's voice rang through the silent of the building. "We found a stairway!"
The group quickly followed the voice, and saw that Liam and Caleb did find a stairway. Caleb held the door open for Liam, since the other had his only hand full.
Behind the door, is a staircase that leads up many levels. The stairs were dimly lit by 'Exit' signs by doors, but otherwise it was completely dark.
"Anyone got a torch?" Ethan asked, peering into the dark.
"That's one of the things we haven't found in this place," Liam said. He took a tentative step forward, and shuffled through the small space until he found a stair.
