I forgot about Woody. >.>

Enjoy!

The next day the group got prepared. Ross and Trott tried to get the man on the radio to speak again, but they either didn't hear them or ignored them. The rest of the group packed up their belongings and headed for the roof.

When Caleb had looked through their supplies for any dog food, he only found an almost empty bag. He looked to Woody, who was looking expectantly at his feet. Caleb looked sadly at Woody.

"Sorry, boy," Caleb said. His eyes spotted the half-eaten granola bar that Liam had given him for breakfast. Making sure that no one was watching, he unwrapped the granola bar and gave it to the skinny puppy. Woody ate it eagerly, and then seemed pretty content. Caleb wrapped up the small dog in a blanket and put him in his backpack. The small dog was heavier than it would be with the current supplies he had, but Caleb could carry him.

"Let's head out," Lewis called, and lead everyone to the roof.

The air was colder than it was before. The roof was covered in a thin layer ice, and the short breeze made you want to go back inside. It was getting deeper into winter, and if they didn't find permanent, warm shelter soon, they would freeze to death.

"We're going to find a safe place for a few of us to stay," Lewis said. "The man may have said that only Ross and Trott will come, but I'll be going in with them. I'm going to have Toby, Jerome, Adam, Chris, and Zoey are going to stay outside, a few buildings back. If you hear gunshots or yelling, you rush in. Caleb, Woody and Liam are going to stay back here."

"I'm perfectly fit to come," Liam said.

"But your an amputee," Lewis said. "You can barely load your gun. It'll be safer for you to stay back here with Caleb. And don't even ask me to bring Caleb. I am not putting a child, or his dog, in danger. And we need someone to watch them."

Liam was about to argue, but nodded his head eventually. Someone had to protect Caleb, right?

"We're going to go to the next building," Lewis said. "Nilesy, I want you to have a back exit ready. If anything gets rough out there, we need a quick escape. I don't want you to unpack the supplies. Keep them in their bags."

Lewis turned away from everyone to face the gap between the current building they're on and the next one. He prepared himself to jump as he thought about the mission.

Just the idea of them going to the museum that the enemies are at, made shivers run down his spine. He had a bad feeling in the pit of his stomach, a feeling that told him something bad is going to happen. He shook his head of these thoughts and leaped over the gap.

The others followed, and they quickly looted and searched the building. This building seemed to be a cafe of sorts. There were tables and chairs toppled over and the counter was a mess. Anything edible was long since forgotten.

"Okay," Lewis said, once all the supply bags were setting on the counter. "We'll go over the plan once more. I'll come with Ross and Trott to get Smith and Elly back. Zoey, Toby, Adam, Jerome, and Chris will be staying a few buildings away from the museum. They will come to the museum if they hear gunshots or yelling. If the situation gets out of hand, everyone, and I mean everyone will come back here and run away from this place. Even if something bad happens, you all run. And don't turn back." The way his voice sounded made everyone's stomach flip.

"Okay," Ross said. "We're ready." He and Trott already held the supplies they owe to the other group. Lewis grabbed the last bag, and them with the backup group left, leaving Liam, Woody, and Caleb.
