Caleb ran into the house, his boots making enough noise to wake up Chapin, and everyone else in the house. He ran up the stairs, shaking the first person he saw and trusted enough; Lewis. He opened his eyes, not really expecting the rude awakening.
"Lewis! We got trouble! Everyone else is outside, and there's a man out there with a gun!" Caleb said.
Lewis was up on his feet in a moment, and even the door swung open to reveal Hannah, who must have heard Caleb.
"They're outside! In the garden! Quick!" Caleb ran down the stairs with the others in tow. They saw Chapin, but ignored her.
The three bent down in the bushes and peeked through. They saw that the man had everyone on their knees with their hands behind their heads. He told them to drop their weapons, which they did obligingly.
"What do we do?" Caleb whispered.
"Ambush him. He's alone. We can take him." Lewis said.
"But he has a gun." Hannah said.
"We'll try." Lewis said.
They crawled closer to the edge of the bush, directly behind the man. Lewis grabbed the shovel they had before, and the other two stayed back while the raven-haired man snuck up behind the ginger.
The people on the ground saw what their friend was up to, and was careful not to show it on their face. The ginger man didn't notice. He bent down to pick up one of the spears they made. Lewis swung the shovel, it making a loud bang! as it collided with the other man's head. He fell to the ground, unconcious.
"Are you guys okay?" Hannah said, standing up from the bushes.
"Yeah, thanks." Chris said. He grabbed his spear that was on the ground.
"Who do you think he is?" Caleb asked, kicking the unconcious man's foot.
"I don't know. But we should tie him up or something." Zoey said.
"Agreed." Joakim said.
Lewis flipped the man over, and was struck by the other man's features. The ginger hair, the red rimmed glasses, and the light stubble on his chin reminded him of someone. Shaking his head, Lewis called over everyone else to help him. They carried the man inside, tied him up, and set him next to Chapin. She looked at the man in confusion, but eventually just shook her head and layed back back down.
"What were you guys doing out there?" Hannah asked.
"We were going to test out the spears we made. Then we saw a well, thought we could get water from it, but no, there was bodies of zombies in there. Then the man came out of nowhere and pinned us down." Liam explained. He took the gun from the ginger's belt.
"Well," Joakim said. "We should try to find something to eat. We didn't exactly catch anything out there."
"True," Zoey said. "We'll just go out there and see if we can find anything edible."
"I'll stay and keep an eye on these two." Lewis said.
"I'll stay, too." Caleb said. He sat down on the couch.
"Okay. Let's go." Chris said.
The group nodded, collected the spears, and went outside. Zoey handed Hannah the dagger Chapin made, and they went to explore the backyard as the sun started to set.
A few minutes after they set out, Zoey got everyone's attention.
"Hey guys! I found something!" Her voice rang out across the garden.
