The group froze and let the words sink in. Had their friend tried to warn them of an attack? But not on them, on Lewis, Adam, and Jerome on the roof.
"You guys go!" Joakim ordered. "I'll stay here and guard."
"Keep Caleb with you," Liam said. "I don't want him getting hurt up there." Joakim nodded and pulled Caleb aside. The youth argued quickly, but his attempts went unoticed.
Leaving Joakim behind to watch the place and look after Caleb, the group rushed up to the roof to warn their friends, weapons ready.
Once they got to the snow covered roof, they looked around in their surroundings. They spotted the three about three buildings away, still jumping to the building that has zombies surrounding it from the noise previously. They seemed alright, for now.
"Why are they attacking in the first place?!" Zoey asked, preparing the jump the building.
"I don't know," Trott said. "But Smith said it, so it must be true."
The group was about a building away from the other three when they started to shout.
"Get down!" Toby yelled. "The enemies are going to shoot us!"
The three looked back, a bit surprised. Adam and Jerome fell to the roof's concrete floor, while Lewis remained standing.
"Get down!" Ross yelled. Lewis raised an eyebrow at them.
"Do you think if the enemy groups could shoot us down, they've done it while the rest of us were up here? Hell, if they wanted to kill us, they could've killed us all in our sleep when Alex and Elly went missing." Lewis yelled back. "Why do you think that, anyway?"
"Smith told us through the radio!" Trott said. His eyes widened as he realized the situation. "Do you think they forced him to say that?"
"Oh god," Adam said, standing up on the other building. "You don't think they made him say that so they could have us out of the building to take all their supplies back, did you?"
Zoey spun around when the words sunk in, and raced back to their 'base'.
"Rythian!" She yelled, stumbling slightly as she jumped over the building.
Liam soon joined her, calling out Caleb's name. The rest of the group followed them, weapons ready to defend their temporary base. They jumped over building gaps quickly, barely thinking about it.
When their base came into view, the group hastily ran inside. On the way down the stairs, they met up with Caleb, who was carrying most of their bags of supplies.
"Caleb!" Liam knelt down and put an arm around the youth. "Where's Rythian? What happened?"
"He's down there!" Caleb said. "They shot the windows out! The zombies heard and attacked us! Joakim told me to come get you!"
"Why would they do that?!" Zoey asked.
"I don't think they knew that Caleb and Joakim were inside," Lewis said. "To lure us out, and make noise to have the undead ruin our supplies. Whatever the cause, we need to go help Joakim. Liam, take Caleb up to the roof."
The group, omit Liam and Caleb, ran down the rest of the steps. They could hear the excessive moans before they even reached the ground floor.
The bar was a complete mad house. Zombies were everywhere, and the front windows were shattered. There was a pile of the groups' supply bags in front of the stairs, and you could see Joakim fighting off a few zombies with his gun. Inexperianced or not, he needed to defend himself.
