My Little Tangled

Prologue

Once upon a time in the land of Equestria, a single drop of sunlight fell from the heavens, and from this small drop of sun, grew a magic golden flower. It had the ability to heal the sick and injured. An old unicorn then later on stumbled onto it. Centuries eventually passed, and a village called Ponyville, and a kingdom called Canterlot grew. The kingdom was ruled by two beloved alicorns named Prince Solaris and Princess Celestia. And Princess Celestia was about to have a foal, but unfortunately she got really sick. She was running out of time, and that's when the citizens of Ponyville and Canterlot usually start to look for a miracle. Or in this case, a magic golden flower.

Meanwhile at a cliff near the ocean where the drop of sunlight fell, the same old unicorn lifted a fake bush and knelt down in front of the magic flower. Instead of sharing the sun's gift, the old unicorn named Rarity, hoarded its healing power and used it to keep herself young for hundreds of years, and all she had to do was sing a special song. As she sang the song, Rarity's coat became wrinkle free, her eyes became youthful, and her mane went from gray to moderate indigo. She smiled knowing that she felt young again. Then she heard noises, so she quickly put the fake bush over the flower, picked up her lantern with her magic, and took off, not knowing her tail knocked the fake bush over, revealing the magic flower. Rarity hid from sight, as one of the pony guards spotted the flower. "We've found it!" The pony guard said. Then they dug the flower up and put it in a pot and took it to Canterlot. Rarity looked on with anger and hate in her eyes.

At the castle in Canterlot, Prince Solaris sang the song, and he put the glowing flower in the water and it glowed. As Princess Celestia drank the glowing water, the magic of the golden flower healed the princess. Later, a healthy baby filly, a princess was born with beautiful golden mane and tail. Princess Celestia held the giggling filly and hugged her, and Prince Solaris places a silver crown with rainbow jewels on it on her head. It slipped because it didn't fit her yet. They called her Rainbow Dash. To celebrate her birth, Prince Solaris and Princess Celestia launched a flying lantern into the sky. Prince Solaris lighted the floating lantern up with his magic, and launched it. All the ponies cheered once the floating lantern flew into the sky. And for that one moment, everything was perfect. And that moment ended when night fell.

As Rainbow Dash slept in her crib, Rarity quietly sneaked through the window, and approached the crib. She quietly sang the song and Rainbow Dash's mane and tail started to glow. As her coat became wrinkle free, she lifted a piece of Rainbow Dash's mane with her magic and cut the piece of mane with her scissors, but she became shocked when the piece of mane turned rainbow colored and lost all it's power, and her coat started to wrinkle. Rarity then looked at the filly as the small piece of mane she cut from turned slightly rainbow colored. When Rarity picked the filly up, the filly started crying, waking her parents up. When they spotted Rarity at the window, they realized what happened. Rarity broke into the castle, stole the foal, and just like that, gone. Rarity then disappeared.

All of Equestria searched and searched, but they could not find the princess. For deep within the Everfree Forest, hidden in a white tower with indigo roof on it, Rarity raised the filly as her own. Inside the tower, Rainbow Dash was singing while her mane was glowing, and Rarity was brushing the glowing mane as Rainbow Dash finished singing and the glowing in her mane faded when it finished making Rarity young and beautiful. Rarity found her new magic flower, but this time, she was determined to keep it hidden. "Why can't I go outside?" Rainbow Dash asked as Rarity continued brushing her mane. "The outside world is a dangerous place. Filled with horrible, selfish ponies." Rarity answered as the fire in the fireplace almost died out. "You must stay here, where you're safe. Do you understand, flower?" "Yes, mommy." Rainbow Dash answered as the fire in the fireplace died out, and they went to bed.

But the walls of that tower could not hide everything. Rainbow Dash quietly snuck out of her bedroom, down the stairs, and past Rarity's bedroom. She went up to the window, opened it, looked up to see floating lanterns flying into the sky, and smiled. Every year on her birthday, Prince Solaris and Princess Celestia released thousands of lanterns into the sky, in hope that one day, their lost princess would return. And that's where our story begins.
