Chapter 19

Ashley:

My first time hunting and I got a vamp, it was terrifying, gory, exhilarating, made me want to throw up, and keep on doing it.

My head pounded afterwards, from so much happening in such little time. My shirt stuck to my skin from the blood, yet somehow even with that disgusting feeling I managed to fall asleep.

I woke up to hearing Amy say: "Oh my God, I thought she was dying." Thought who was dying what now? I thought, my mind still foggy when I looked down at myself and my bloody shirt then at the passenger seat where some clean clothes were tossed.

I pulled on a sweatshirt and managed to take off my shirt from under it, one of my few talents.

When I got out Amy looked like she had been sick and Sam and Dean were talking. "I thought you would wait to leave after we got back." He said with a sigh and Dean shrugged, "We-" "What's going on?" I asked, jutting it. Sam looked down at me and shook his head. "Nothing, Ash. Amy just had a heart attack because she saw you knocked out in the passenger seat of the Impala covered in blood." "Whoops." I said rubbing my neck and saw Amy come over where she gave me a breathtakingly tight hug.

"Geez, I thought I lost you." she muttered and I gave her a light squeeze back. "I won't go out like that." I replied with a faint smile, whereas she did not smile back. "Ash, that isn't funny." "I didn't mean it like that." I replied back, my smile fading into a sigh as I rubbed my temples.

"Why don't we all just head back to the bunker and chill?" I asked, walking back over to the car. Dean agreed and it seemed like Sam and Amy were already headed back that way so it all worked out. Perfect.

After getting back, I stretched and winced slightly realizing I had numerous bruises and stretching was a bad idea. "I'm going to take a shower." "See you in a little bit." Dean replied giving me a quick kiss before I went into the shower.

When we got to the nest of vampires, there wasn't any survivors left. We happened to have gotten there just after they killed the innocent people. That being said, Dean and I didn't need a reason to keep any of them alive. Not that they were alive to begin with.

Dean led the charge and took out two easily, one caught side of me and grabbed Dean by his shoulders before throwing him at the wall before lunging at me and toppling me over. Maybe he figured he caught me by surprise, but I pulled out my knife and plunged it into his chest.

Dean ran over, looking at me worried before I shoved the limp vamp's body off of me. "Well, there are still some out there, don't worry about me!" I told him quickly, shooing him away as I dusted myself off.

That's when it hit me, this was an actual person at some point in time. A man who had a family perhaps, who had an piece of humanity in him.

At that point was when I was starting to wonder how the brother's did this day in and day out.

There was a crash from another part of the building, pulling me back into reality as I followed where Dean had sprinted off to.

After that I was exhausted, there had been at least a dozen of them in that abandoned building, it was a miracle that I had gotten out with only a few bruises.

"So, your first hunt." Dean commented as we stood outside of the building, soaking in the sunshine and I was leaned up against the building catching my breath. "Yeah..." "I saw that vampire go for you and time seemed to stop and-" He stopped, shaking his head as he closed his eyes.

Now I was able to stand up without the world moving in waves and I put my hand on his shoulder. "I'm here, okay? I told you I wasn't going to be some damsel in distress." "That's the last thing I would describe you as." He told me, with a smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.

As I stood in the shower, letting the relaxing warm water run over me I sighed softly.

Around thirty minutes later I came out in a black sweatshirt and some sweatpants. "I haven't had a shower that long in years." I said with a grin but Amy, who was sitting in the kitchen where I had walked into, didn't seem too enthusiastic about that. "Amy...sorry I worried you..."
