I awakened to see something that was glowing and white. The pain in my eyes only increased the more I opened them. I blinked several times, becoming adjusted to the brightness. "She's awake! Oh, my God! She's awake!" a voice spoke growing more and more faint. My head ached slightly as I sat up from my position. I groaned, feeling a bit drained. There sat a little girl with a weak smile and puffy eyes, at the foot of my bed. "Safaree!" she threw her arms around me. By the scent of candy on her breath, I knew it was my little cousin, Journey. "Hey, J.J," I smiled slightly. "Ma, look!" my older sister, Serene, shouted while pulling my mother into the room. My mother, in tears, quickly attended to me, forcing me into a tight embrace. "Don't ever scare me like that again," she croaked while running her fingers through my hair and kissing my forehead repeatedly. Although, I was confused as to what happened to me, I wasn't going to question anything right now. This is the most attention I've received since I was a kid...

Everyone spent the night with me, at the hospital. We sat talking about what's happened while I was in a coma. We've apparently moved to a different home, and I've been "out of it" for the whole summer. It was extra details about other things, but my thoughts of Daniel forced me out of reality. I wonder what he's doing right now. He could be watching his favorite television show, "Martin", or roaming the halls to keep his mind from wandering off toward how worried he is about me... Or he's asleep. Lord knows that he looks as cute as a kitten when he sleeps. I buzzed for my nurse, hoping Nurse Vendell would walk in. At that time, I realized that everyone who was in the room with me was lost in the abyss called slumber... Just as I hoped, Nurse Vendell sauntered into the room, a smile wiping itself onto her face once she saw me. "Look who's awake," she spoke. "Hey, Nurse V," I smiled slightly. "How are you?" she inquired. "I'm fine," I replied. "Well, you're going to be able to go home tomorrow morning," she smiled. "Okay," I nodded. Just as she began to leave, I called her back.

"Where's Daniel?" I asked. Her smiled fell slightly before it was restored. "Daniel's gone, Baby girl," she responded. "He's gone from the hospital?" I questioned. "Yeah, but--." "He beat his cancer?!" I smiled broadly. "Safaree. Listen to me. Daniel--." "Nurse Vendell," a doctor poked his head into the room and motioned her to follow him. She looked at me and placed her hand on my shoulder. "Make sure you see me before you leave tomorrow, okay?" she spoke. I nodded, agreeing to do so. She soon left the room, closing the door behind her. "I knew he could beat it! I knew it!" I whispered, my smile not being able to come down... It took a while for me to doze off, but when I did, I didn't awaken until noon the next day.

I was awakened by Serene. "Get up," she yanked the bed covers off of me. I groaned, burying my face into the pillow. "I said get up!" she shouted, taking my pillow from me and opening the blinds, causing the sunlight to blind me temporarily. "Serene!" I cried, rubbing my eyes. "Here are your clothes. Hurry up, Ma's waiting in the car," she spoke. I called for a nurse and got properly released from the wires I was hooked up to. I got dressed in the clothes that were thrown at me by Serene. With that, I walked out of the room, seeing Serene waiting for me. "Come on. Let's go," she spoke. I followed behind her through the lobby. I stopped at the front desk. "Safaree, what the hell are you d--." "Just wait for a second, okay?" I snapped at her. She rolled her eyes and kissed her teeth. I approached Nurse Vendell. "Safaree..." she spoke, pausing before going into a secret drawer. She then pulled out a black box with a lock on it. It looked a bit beat up, as if it had been dropped...

"Daniel wanted you to have this. He said that you would know what to do with it," she spoke. I nodded. "Alright," I spoke, awkwardly taking the box into my hands. I didn't know what it contained. I didn't even know Daniel had a box... "Thanks," I spoke gratefully before walking out of the hospital, Serene following me while texting on her phone and popping her gum. We made our way toward a BMW that held my mother, my aunt, and Journey. I took my place, in the backseat, on the right of Journey while Serene took hers on the left. Journey hugged me tightly. "I'm so happy you're all better," she smiled, flashing me her smile with a missing tooth. I smiled slightly at her. I can't help but feel as though I'm Journey's favorite cousin. At least, I'm someone's favorite something...
