"You ready?" Poe yelled from the bottom of the stairs. It was about 5 o'clock, planning to go out to dinner. I grabbed my purse and started down the stairs. I'd been living with Poe for the past week, and it's been amazing. He got me a job where I get $15 an hour and I can choose my hours as I own the small businesses. The only downfall is I owe him what he payed for the shop. He tells me not to worry about it but I feel bad not to. I know he's swimming in money, but still.
When I walked to the final step Poe put his hands around my waist, picking me up and turning me in a semicircle until my feet touched the ground. "Has anyone anyone ever told you how beautiful you are?" Poe asked stroking my brown hair back.
"Nobody has actually meant it, I have a feeling your like the others," I said.
"No really. Rey you are gorgeous." I cracked a slight smile at his comment. "You smiled."
"Yeah, I did," I replied thinking back to the last real smile I had, before Finn and I broke up. My face suddenly turned blank.
"Finn?" Poe asked. I nodded holding back the tears. Poe knew the entire story about Finn and I do he was fine with me letting it out on him. Of course I had to be careful not to do it to much for obvious reasons.
Poe and I walked out onto the streets. "What about Keira?" I suddenly remembered and started to to back.
"Rey, relax," Poe said, "I got her a babysitter who was waiting in the kitchen with the baby monitor.
"Thanks." I looked out into the blue skies as the wind brushed against my legs and the setting sun formed a shadow over the sidewalk. I put my arm down to the side hinting I wanted Poe to hold it.
Holding hands Poe lead me to the restaurant which he was surprising me with for dinner.
"Poe, you shouldn't have!" I said looking at the fancy restaurant he lead me to. A waiter lead us to a small round table with glasses of red wine and a loaf of bread with a side of olive oil. There was a small candle on the center of the table surrounded by small hearts. The waiter granddad us menus as Poe and I started to look across.
"What are you getting?" I ask Poe needing ideas.
"The tauntaun Alfredo is good."
"I'm allergic to tauntaun," I reminded him.
"The baked zucchini pasta is also pretty good."
I nodded looking around at the restaurant and the people. I began to feel out of place in my dark capri jeans and black spaghetti strap top. My hair was in curls and the only thing keeping me from looking full on mom was my red lipstick, smoky eye, and red purse. I looked over at Poe, thankfully noticing he wasn't much more dressed up that I was, wearing a white tee shirt and khaki shorts with a new Resistance jacket.
"Hello Damoran Party, I'm Flint. Your beautiful couple looks ready to order," Flint said. Poe went first, ordering like a professional. I rarely had gone out to eat, let alone a place this fancy. After I struggled to order, Flint gave me a surprised face, "your really gonna get that? Cause you don't need it."
"No," I said holding back the pain I was given at that comment, I knew I wasn't exactly Barbie, but it hurts when you here it from someone else. I haven't eaten much since my dad and mines fight.
"I was going to do this later," Poe said, "but I thing now's a better time. Rey, you are the best thing that's happened to me, and I know we haven't known each other for too long but I know everything I should know about this to do it. Rey Leia Skywalker, will you do me the honor of becoming Rey Leia Dameron?"
Surprised I nodded. Although I wasn't fully over Finn, marrying Poe should change that. I felt my communicator vibrate from my purse, "hello..." I said, "oh my gosh...yeah, I'll be there in an hour...now?...I'll try...thanks."
