"Rey," I heard a voice say, I looked over to see a force ghost who resembled a younger version of my dad. He had dark curls, forming a mullet and deep blue eyes. I must have looked confused, as the ghost soon spoke again, "I'm your grandfather, Anakin Skywalker." Anakin Skywalker? As in Darth Vader? "Your father will be alright," he said.
"How do you know?" I questioned holding back the tears in my eyes.
"Because a stormtrooper shot him. They were aiming for the heart, but fortunately missed and instead got the stomach. No internal organs were harmed. And being force sensitive helps. Many people wouldn't survive that," he said pointing at my arm, "you lost way to much blood, but you had no problem. But please, go home, be with your fiancé, love will be better for you than sitting here making a mess of yourself. Trust me, he will be fine." I nodded pretending to understand as my grandfathers ghost faded away.
I stood up but immediately sat back down. Although he was probably right, I couldn't bare to leave my dad. What if something happened to him, would I ever forgive myself? I needed to stay.
"Go!" I heard Anakin say in my head, but stay was repeating in my own. What if I could do both.
I scavenged though my bag, until I found my comlic. I entered Poe's number, and left a message asking if he and Keira could meet me at the food court to start planning. Poe agreed telling me to be down in 15 minutes. I looked over at dad, telling a medical droid to notify me if anything changes.
I made my way downstairs, purchasing two small black coffees, one for me and one for Poe, and a fruit plate. I noticed Poe arriving, pushing Keira in her stroller and carrying a medium sized bag with what looked to be some holobooks.
"How's my future father in law?" Poe asked as we leaned in for a peck on the lips.
"Ok. He's stable which is good. The droids think the odds are in his favor," I said taking a sip of the hot coffee.
"That's good," Poe replied, "when do we want to get married?"
"How about in 3-5 weeks. When ever when can get a location."
"Ok. What were you thinking? For location?"
"My grandparents, Han and Leia, and almost Dad and my mom got married on Naboo. We could continue the tradition."
"I like that. What about bridesmaids and best man?"
"Light on those. I know you know slot of people but I know like 2. Well who wouldn't mind being bridesmaids."
"Oh really? Who's your first female friend?" Poe joked.
"Lieutenant Connix and I have become very close in the past few months. And maybe Kalista. I don't know though. Who do you want?"
"Would it be awkward," Poe took a breath, "if I picked Finn?"
"Finn? Like FN-218, yeah that's fine," I lied, my palms filled with sweat.
"If it's weird for you, I can have someone else."
"No, it's fine. Who else are you having?"
"BB-8."
"What?"
"BB-8 will be my other best man."
"I was actually thinking he could be the ring bearer. Walk down with Keira."
"Ok, Keira is only 6 months old. Can she walk?"
"No. But I want her as the flower girl."
"Ok, ok. How about Ben. We grew up together."
"That's a good idea. Are we doing a formal wedding. Like with dress and tuxedos?"
"Yeah i guess," I answered trying to think of the last time I wore a dress.
"Do you have options on flowers and stuff?"
"Not really. Except for the colors. A variety of light blue, like my lightsaber, and orange, like your uniform. I think that represents both of us pretty well."
"That works for me. How about I'll go order those, call in the venue, and you go pick out your dress."
"But what about-"
"They'll call you if anything happens." Poe said cutting me off. I stood up from the plastic chair I was sitting in, I walked over to Keira's stroller.
"No, I'll take her." Poe said.
"Thanks, but you don't have to do that. Besides I think Keira would like to do some girl stuff."
"See you," Poe said before placing his arms around my waist as we began to kiss. I waved at Poe, pushing Keira out of the medical center. I called Leia to have her go dress shopping.
We met at some dress shop she'd told me about. Walking in, I noticed tons of tight dresses. I knew I didn't want that. I looked around until I found one I liked, it was a silky white dress, with a halter top and lace back. It wasn't fitted, except for a small blue ribbon around the waist. I went to my dressing room to try in on. The fit of the dress reminded me of the ones Leia wore as a princess which I'd seen pictures of. I grabbed my comlic before walking out to show Leia. I was scared if I left it something would happen.
"I love it," Leia said, "it looks perfect on you." I smiled when I felt the comlic buzz in my hand. The numbers appearing on the top told me in was the medical center. I pushed the button to answer. Something bad could have happened. Leia saw the worried look on my face. I walked back to the fitting room taking of the dress and leaving it. I walked back over to Leia about to take Keira.
"you go," she said, will meet you there."
"Thanks," I said as i began to run to the medical center. I walked over the elevator, and quickly went to the ICU floor, to the room which I had memorized so well. I went in there and looked over at the bed, it was still there, no sheets or anything though. He, however, was gone.
