+++Fatal Attractions 8: A Little Digging+++
"This is a four foot ball python- "screams erupt from the room. Today is another day at camp for facing your fears and six campers are deadly afraid of snakes. I for one, adore snakes along with a lot of other things normal people tend to hate, like vegetables. People hate them, but I say hell yes. "There is nothing to be afraid of. He is not venomous and is very docile." Tak tries to settle the campers. He passes the snake to Sam, the nerdy boy who loves to tattle tale on me. He trembles, looking as if he's ready to pee, his red glasses shake and fall off. I roll my eyes and huff in boredom.
There is no adrenaline kick to this. Why can't we wrestle alligators or something. I've pet plenty of snakes before.
I wave goodbye to Tak, which he returns with a dirty look and retreat back to my cabin. Once I get there, I notice I'm already pretty tired and it was only a mile walk. It seems my body is beginning to break down, slowly but surely.
Damn it.
I still need to solve this murder mystery. I take another vitamin and sit on my spinny chair. So here's the layout of the information so far. Dexic is a mysterious, not human guy who is extremely secretive, Tak takes the deaths personal, Deliliah knows something but won't tell me and Kim, my fellow camper is terrified of Deliliah. Oh and Lily is one of the campers killed who had a C on her forehead.
Well I guess I don't know anything unless I can connect the information.
Time to see Deliliah, she did promise me answers.
I walk out of my cabin to see Deliliah waiting outside. What a freakin' creep. Stalking me again.
"Well hello Avrey." She smiles, while leaning against a tree.
"You promised me answers" I greet, getting straight to the point.
"I know. And I will give them to you by hints" She says and I groan. Everyone wants to screw with my head more. I gesture for her to proceed.
"Okay, first though you must promise to not tell anybody of the help I am giving you." She warns and I promise.
"Secondly, you will not ask for too much." She says and I nod.
"And finally you owe me." She gives me a hard stare that makes me rethink my choice. But hey, I may die before she needs a favor. Pessimistic and optimistic, huh?
"Okay, I promise." I reply.
"Alright, here's your first clue, look beneath the rock of wonder. Also you may not like what you find and don't make fun of my riddles." Deliliah demands and I nod.
"Rock of wonder, like a magic rock?" I ask in puzzlement. She rolls her eyes.
"I will help you one last time. The rock you have questions about." She sighs.
A light bulb turns on as I pull out the Thanatos rock. I flip it over to find nothing. There's nothing on the bottom of it. What the hell?
"In the place of origin." Deliliah mutters, before walking away. In the place of origin. I smack my forehead, ofcourse! I have to look at where I found it!
I sprint through the forest, the wind slapping my face and a huge smile on my face. The mystery is exciting. Now this is an adrenaline rush.
I reach the tree to see Thanatos on a branch and a sense of Deja vu reaches me. I'm out of breath, crap, I need better vitamins.
I look at the area of where the rock fell, but I see nothing. "Ugh, I hate puzzles." I mutter to myself.
"Puzzles hate you." A deep voice says to my right, I turn to see a twinkling green eye, a damn unicorn.
"I hate you." I retort as he kneels down beside me.
"What are you doing?" He asks suspiciously, as my hands dance over the dirt searching for a clue.
"Building a sand castle." I reply in a grunt.
He chuckles,"In the middle of the forest?"
"Yes."
"I told you it's dangerous here." He scolds and I roll my eyes.
"Yes everybody says that."
"Then don't you think you should believe it?" He raises a brow.
"Im a brave girl." I retort.
"Sure you are." He smirks, I glare at him.
"How about you get a shovel?" He suggests as I try to dig with my hands.
"Where am I suppose to get one?" I demand.
"Dont know, don't care." he shrugs carelessly and I practically growl. He smirks, but begins helping me dig.
"So Avrey, you haven't told me about yourself." Dexic muses.
"You already know a lot, like that I'm dying-" he seemed to almost flinch as I said that,"...and my name" I reply, not wanting to talk about myself.
"I want to know you, though. " He replies in a quiet manner.
"Last time, you said you didn't want to know about me." I raise a brow and he smirks.
"I was teasing you. You're extremely fun to tease." He grins, while I scowl.
"Well then only three facts, and I pick."
I declare, as I throw the dirt to the side as I dig relentlessly.
"Fine." He agrees and continues digging.
"I am from Cincinnati, I love crayons more than color pencils and I love scary movies." I say random things from the top of my head. I turn to see Dexic's lip quirk into a quick smile before it becomes a simple grin. I look down to see we're atleast a few deep in, Dexic is great at digging.
"Interesting." He says sarcastically with a chuckle. I'm about to punch him, when my hand wraps around a fabric. My heart skips a beat and I pull the fabric out to see it's a towel, now coated in dirt. As I unwrap the material I find baby pictures and childhood pictures that look shockingly familiar. Dexic's eyes shoot wide at the surprise.
I shake in fear as I stare at my own photo album of my life in a towel drenched in dirt and blood.
