Meeting Someone New (Toby McDonough/Before You Exit Love Story)

Chapter 18

*Cody's POV*

I was there with her. Everything felt so perfect. So I did it. I kissed her. I felt sparks. But then I noticed, she wasn't kissing back.

I backed up and looked into her eyes. It was a look of hurt and confusion. I scratched my neck then looked down at my shoes.

"Sorry, Anna." I said softly. But it was a lie. I was glad I kissed her. I looked at Anna and she bit her lip. "It's ok... But you should probably go..." Anna whispered.

"Yeah..." And I left. I hope everything stays normal between us. Or maybe better. Better would be good. Better than good.

*Anna's POV*

I was so confused. Why did Cody kiss me?! He knows Toby and I are back together.

I just don't know what to think. I don't hate Cody, but why? That's all I want to know. But I'm just so lost.

I went up to my room and grabbed my guitar. No one knows I can play. I then grabbed some paper and a pencil and started to write lyrics.

"What just happened? What do I do now? Things will never be the same anymore. Everything is so terrible now. Can we even fix this? I wish I knew..."

I put down the first verse and started to strum a chord. I liked it. So on another sheet of paper, I put down the chord. I continued to write until I got a call. It was my mom.

"Hey mom!" I greeted her. "Hey sweetie, I'll be home in about an hour with your dad and your sister will be out for the day. Ok?" "Ok." I replied then hung up.

After all that work I got tired. The song needed some touch ups, so I decided to do it later.

I put everything up, the snuggled into my warm bed.

I woke up to something wet on my face. And something sharp on my chest?

I opened my eyes and saw a little pug! I look around and almost burst into tears.

I picked up the pug, put it on the ground and run to Toby. I was sobbing on his chest.

"Thank you, Toby." was all I was able to say. He just laughed, rubbed my back, and kissed me. He's just so amazing.

Once I was finally able to put myself together I sat down. Then Toby sat beside me and put his arm around me.

"How did you get in?" I asked. He smiled an pointed to a window. I smiled a nodded. Then Toby got the pug and bright it over.

"SHE, is ours. And you can name HER. Catching my drift?" He smiled. I nodded and he put her in my lap. "I'll name her..." I stopped to think for a second. "Sasha!" I said happily.

"Sasha it is." Toby said taking her. He then put her down. I laid in my bed, still tired. Then I felt Toby get next to me. I couldn't help but blush.

Then my mom yelled. "ANNA! WE GOT MEXICAN FOOD FOR YOU! AND YOUR BOYFRIEND TOO! I KNOW HE'S UP THERE!" I looked at Toby. We were both laughing.

He stood up then I jumped on his back. "Carry me?" I begged. he sighed, but laughed. With that, he carried me down stairs.

Toby walked over towards the plates. I grabbed both mine and his. "Hello Mrs. Peters, I'm going to take Anna on the deck." Toby said politely.

When we got out, Toby put me in a chair and I gave him his food. "I never knew you had manners!" I teased. "Oh shut up!" He laughed.

Then Toby grabbed my hand. He ran this fingers over mine. I just loved it. But then he stopped, so I looked at him. He looked... Angry?

"Where's your ring?" He asked firmly. I searched my back pocket and found it. I then showed Toby with a 'duh' expression on my face. He then snatched the ring out of my hands and put it on my my finger.

We both started to eat then. It was silent, but it was nice. It gave me a while to appreciate having Toby in my life. He's so much to me.

Then the thought popped onto my head. "What would you do if we weren't together?" I blurted.

I quickly covered my mouth and looked down. Then Toby reached over the table and raised my chin so I could see him.

"Anna, who knows what I would do. But I think I'd die. I'd never be as happy as I am now. No on can ever replace you and no one ever will. You are my everything. You are the one and I'm your only." Toby whispered the last part. I blushed madly.

It started to get dark, so we went inside. Then Toby carried me bridal style up into my room. I couldn't help but giggle the whole time.

Then Toby put me down on the bed and went to the TV. He put in a movie then got into bed next to me.

We watched Grown Ups and I slowly fell asleep in Toby's arms last night. It was just perfect.
