A/N Hey so I'm sorry about last weekend, I went camping so no interwebs. So Kay was a character I was always going to have but I decided to scrap my original idea because it sucked :/. I had the idea for this chapter at 1 am so it's a bit random but hopefully its okay.

Dan was bouncing up and down in the passenger seat, grinning like a mad man. I hadn't seen him this excited in a long time, however I couldn't blame him as I was just as excited. We were on our way to the airport to pick up an old friend. We'd known Kay for nearly four years now. Dan had taken up work at their book store in between high school and my YouTube channel taking off a bit. They'd been great and very understanding of Dan's muteness and they'd only ask him to help with stock and stuff. Kay had sold their store and decided to travel two years ago. Although we'd kept in relatively regular contact they didn't know about certain things from the past year and a half so we were eager to tell them face to face.

"Are you nervous?" I asked as we pulled into the airport parking lot and began the tedious process of finding parking.

"Kind of," he replied. "but mostly excited. I also can't wait to see Kay again."

"Yeah sh-they are pretty great." I said, mentally slapping myself. Dan just gave me a sympathetic smile, knowing my struggle. I occasionally did that, forgetting that Kay was bi-gender, and I felt so bad when I did. Kay would always laugh and they'd offered many times for us to just call them 'her' but I was determined to be proper. I don't even know why I did it, I had no objection to bi-gender/gender fluid people.

As soon as we got in we raced across the airport, clinging to each others hand so as not to get lost, making a bee-line for Kay's gate. We were fifteen minutes early but so was the plane as there was a flood of people already exiting the door. We were thankful for our height as we peered over the crowd searching for them. However Kay found us first, which was good as they'd changed quite a bit appearance wise. Kay was quite tall and had slimmed down a small bit since we'd last seen them and their once plain brown hair was now a vibrant blue and green, still cut pretty short.

"Guys!" they yelled, tackling first Dan and then me into a hug.

"Hi Kay!" I grinned, Dan hugging them again.

"Let me just go get my bag, I'll meet you at the little cafe over there. You have to tell me everything!" they exclaimed, running off. We laughed and made our way over to the designated cafe. We'd barely ordered and sat down before Kay came over, a single duffel bag in one hand.

"So what's been happening?" they asked.

"Well we have two pretty important things to tell you," I began, grinning broadly and cutting a glance at Dan. "But I think I'll let Dan tell it." They seemed surprise by this as I usually did most of the talking as Dan used to find his notepad cumbersome. However Kay expectantly turned to Dan before frowning.

"Wait where's your notepad?" they asked.

"I don't need it," Dan replied with a beaming smile. For a few seconds Kay was stunned into silence before bolting out of their seat and pulling Dan into the biggest death hug I've ever seen.

"Oh my god. Dan!" they exclaimed, "I'm so happy for you!"

"Thanks," Dan replied, slightly out of breath as Kay released him and they both sat back down.

"How long?" they asked eagerly.

"About a year and a half now."

"Oh my god, I'm so happy for you." they replied, slightly tearing up.

"We have something else to tell you," Dan continued. At Kay's eager expression he turned to me. "We're kind of together."

"Finally!" they exclaimed, jokingly rolling their eyes. "You know how long I've been waiting for you to get together?" We all laughed at this.

"We've been dating for a little over a year and a half," I said, showing them our rings.

"You do know that this is a Star Wars quote right?" they asked, raising their eyebrows at me. My jaw dropped.

"What? No. Ugh I just thought it was cute." I mumbled, burying my head in my hands as Dan lost it. "I didn't know." I whined, my face red.

"It's okay, it's still cute." he assured me, kissing my flaming cheek.

"So what else has been happening?" Kay asked.

"Well Troyler is engaged." I said.

"'Bout time, who asked who?"

"Troye asked Tyler."

"Aw that's adorable. I hope I'm invited to their wedding, I'd love to see Tyler in a dress. Or maybe Troye," they mused, earning more laughs from Dan and I.

"I think Troye is walking down the aisle but I don't think either of them are wearing a dress."

"Damn," Kay replied sarcastically. After hanging out for a while we headed back to our apartment, Kay in tow as they were staying with us for a little bit until they could get the keys to their new place. When we got back we crashed on the couch watching Buffy until the wee hours of the morning. Kay took my bed, claiming that their hair matched my sheets, so Dan and I went to his.

"It's great having Kay back isn't it." I asked yawning.

"Yeah," Dan replied, diving into bed. I giggled and followed suit, snuggling up to him. He grinned and pressed back into me, allowing me to wrap my arms around his waist.
