Nick
As I sat next to Demi at the graveside funeral for Rafe, I wasn't really paying too much attention to what people were saying about him. Instead, I was on high alert for those that were sitting around us, that were not fans of Demi or myself. Rafe was from a big family & I heard rumors that some of his family members were involved in the mob. They sure were dressed like they were & they sure had guards surrounding them like they were. But then again, I had a bodyguard & I was dressed like I could be a mob boss, so maybe they were just rumors.
Once the funeral was over, Rafe's wife announced that they were having refreshments at a hotel & we were all invited to come. I didn't want to, but I knew Demi wanted to. She liked Rafe's wife & wanted to offer her support. So, I swallowed my words, instead of voicing them to her & we went to the hotel.
I stayed close to Demi for the first hour or so, then Rafe's cousin, Antony came up to us & he apologized on behalf of his entire family. He had arrived late to the funeral, so he wasn't there when Demi was confronted. He got filled in on what happened by the gossiping women in the family.
Antony was pretty cool & after he hugged Demi, he thanked her for being so good to Rafe. I know that meant a lot to her. I stood there & talked to Antony for awhile & Demi went off to hang with Rafe's sister & wife.
When we got home that evening, Demi was quiet. The twins were with my parents, while Reid & Avery were with Demi's parents, so we had the house to ourselves. As Demi was removing her dress, I glanced at her & saw her forehead wrinkled & her eyebrows knitted together, so I knew she was deep in thought. I cleared my throat as I put on the shirt I had grabbed from a drawer. "You look like you're really thinking about something." I said & she looked up at me, her forehead still creased.
"I was talking to Rafe's wife & she was so regretful about the stuff her & Rafe put off & now would never get to do together."
I nodded, putting my hands on my hips. "That's understandable. I'm glad we did everything on our bucket list." I walked to my dresser & got my pouch to check my sugar.
"That's the thing. There is still stuff we haven't done that we said we wanted to do together. Or stuff that you wanted to do." She smirked, rolling her eyes, then walked toward me, biting her lip.
"Like what?"
"Well, you said you wanted to get a straight razor shave by a sexy woman." Her hand ran up my chest, to my neck, then she ran her fingers along my jawline. "No kids for the night. I could shave you now."
"I'm cool with that. I do need to shave. Harper doesn't like my stubble." I ran my fingers over my facial hair.
