Anytime Mom or Dad wanted to have a sit down talk with me, I was either in trouble or they had something serious to talk to me about. I was a little surprised when Dad told me he needed me in the family room one evening, a week or so before Mom's birthday. At first, I thought he wanted to talk to me about a birthday surprise for her, but then I saw PJ, Joel & my aunts & uncles in the room, with my mom. My mom sat on the couch, a big smile on her face, so I couldn't wait to hear what they wanted to tell us that made my mom look so insanely happy.
"What's going on? Are we in trouble?" I asked, sitting on an ottoman.
All the adults laughed, but PJ & Joel looked just as confused as I was. "No. You guys aren't in trouble." Uncle Joe said once he stopped laughing.

"We have something to discuss with you guys." My dad said, sounding excited. He took a deep breath then started to speak again, explaining to us his big idea for the Jonas Brothers reunion concerts. I listened as he told us how he wanted me & my cousins to perform their song, kicking off the concert then we would be joined by Dad & my uncles for a few songs before they'd take over.
My dad & my uncles both expressed their excitement for this event & as I listened to them I felt anxious. I watched my dad & saw how much this meant to him & it made my stomach turn. Then my uncle Joe looked at us & asked, with a hopeful expression on his face, "So? Are you boys in?" I felt like I was going to throw up. When both my cousins, answered, they were enthusiastic, but I could not share in that with them.
"I'm in." Joel nearly shouted.
"Oh yea, me too! Sounds like it'll be fun!" PJ chimed in.
All eyes came to land on me & I had never felt so uncomfortable, in my life. I avoided looking at my dad's face, because I knew he was excited for this. I didn't want to tell him that I didn't want to do this. I looked at Joel & PJ, who were looking at me, waiting for me to agree to do this. I opened my mouth, but nothing came out. I glanced at my mom, who was leaning forward now, watching me, with a concerned look on her face. I felt my face get warm, so I closed my eyes, took a deep breath, then when I opened my eyes, I saw all their faces & I couldn't make myself say, 'yes.'.
