CHAPTER 8 - Revelations

Around October, Trip and his crew arrive in Cape Town, South Africa for the weekend. "Well, Trip that was a pretty long ass flight." Martin said with a tired voice.

So as they deplane, Trip and their crew get out of the airport and get transported to the hotel. As the others checked in, Trip didn't and rented a car from the hotel instead.

Amelia noticed, "Where are you headed?" She asked. "Out of town." Trip answered as he got the keys to the car. "You're not staying here?" She asked. "So many questions, so little time." He said and glanced at his watch. She shot him a confused look, "I best be off." He said with a smile and went to the car carrying his suit case.

So Trip shortly hit the pavement and drove to a little town called, Simon's Town, just outside of Cape Town. It took him about fifty minutes with traffic to arrive in Simon's Town. He then went to Simon's Town Quayside Hotel.

As he checked in the man from the front desk recognized him, "Ahhh welcome back, Mr. McAllister!" He asked. Trip smiled, "Yes." He said. "Where is the lovely lady you were with before?" He asked. "Sadly, she passed away." Trip replied. "Oh I'm so sorry." The man said and gave him the keys. "It's alright." Trip said and then went to his room.

He got a room with a balcony facing the sea. He went out and took a breath of fresh air. Then he took a shower and freshened up before going downstairs to eat lunch. As he ate he read "The Life of Pi" and enjoyed how quaint, quiet and peaceful it was.

After eating he took a walk to the harbor and sat on a bench marveling the gorgeous view of sail boats and the sea. He closes his eyes and breathes in and out.

"How on earth did you ever find this place?" Megan asked. "I was in Cape Town one time and I rented a car and just drove around the outside towns. Then suddenly my car breaks down here in Simon's Town." Trip replied. "I had the car fixed and while waiting, I go around an explore this town. It's pretty amazing. Simple and so peaceful." He added. "Small towns like these are beautiful." She said and they were silent for a while.

"You know, I could just stay like this forever." Megan said while Trip wraps his arms around her as they sat on the bench in the harbor looking at the sailboats and the sea. "Me too." He replied. "I can just imagine you and me growing old together and sitting here just the two of us looking at this view." He added. "Now that would be amazing. That would be the dream." She replied.

Trip kissed her cheeks and they look at each other, "No matter what I do, no matter where I go promise me you'll never leave me." He said. "And promise me you'll never do anything stupid to ruin what we have." She said. He nods and kisses her on the lips, "I love you." He said. "I love you too." She replied.

Then they were like that for a couple of hours and then eventually went back to the hotel.

Trip opens his eyes as it gets cold and starts raining. Then he quickly goes to Bertha's restaurant and continues to read his book while sipping on some coffee. He was there the whole afternoon reading, drinking coffee until day turned into night. He ordered dinner and still continued to read.

Then as the silence was disrupted he looked up from his book and saw...

Amelia.

She was drenched in water and was asking the waitress something until she turned and saw Trip. Amelia smiled and walked over to his table. "What're you doing here?" He asked looking up at her. "How did you know I was here?" He continued to ask.

"Can I sit?" She asked and he nodded. "Can I get you something to eat?" He asked and she orders. Then she takes off her coat and looked at Trip, "Martin told me you always stay here whenever you're in Cape Town." She said. "Yeah okay... But what are you doing here?" He asked. "I'm not sure, really. I don't really know." She said and looked away.
