CHAPTER 14 - Walls Down

A couple of weeks after that awkward ending to Trip's yacht escapade with his friends and Amelia, there has been some tension between him and Amelia. Every time they'd hang out it's not just the two of them anymore, they're not that close as before as well and they haven't talked properly since that night and Trip felt kind of sad. He tried talking to her on the plane but she's busy tending to the passengers.

But today, Trip and his crew had just arrived in Barcelona, Spain and will be here for the long weekend. They all checked in at the Mariott Hotels except for Trip and Martin who decided to stay at Beckett's modern contemporary Spanish style luxury house with a gorgeous view of the city and a pool to boot.

"How's it going guys?" Beckett greeted them as they enter his gorgeous mansion. "Beck it's good to see you buddy!" Trip replied and hugged him while Martin trailed behind. "Nice house, Beck." Martin complimented and they hug as well.

Then they go in to the living room, "Well, I'll show you to your rooms." Beck said and led the way to the guest rooms. They walked for a while and arrived at the room to where Martin will be staying, he put his stuff in there and followed Beck again as they make their way to where Trip will be staying.

As they arrive, they all enter a gorgeous room with a lovely view of the pool and the city of Barcelona, Spain. "Gorgeous room!" Trip said. "Hey why does he get the nice room?" Martin asked rather annoyed. "I think you'll enjoy the view once you get to scope out my lovely neighbor." Beck said cheekily and Martin just laughs. Trip walked to the window and crossed his arms, "This is just what I needed." He said.

"I'm glad you boys like your rooms. Make yourselves at home and I'm taking you both out to dinner at seven." Beck said. "Where are you headed now?" Martin asked. "Off to do some good!" Beck said with a laugh. "Really?" Trip asked.

Beck chuckles, "I'm throwing a party for the children who have Down syndrome at the hospital in the city." He said. "What a fucking saint!" Martin joked. "You guys want to come?" Beck asked. "Nah, I've got things to do." Martin replied. "As much as I would love to, I need to pay someone a visit." Trip replied. "Alright! Suit yourself." Beck said. "I'm going to be leaving now. My driver, Nico is here to bring you guys into the city if you want and drop you guys wherever we'll meet up for dinner." He added. "Au revoir, gents!" He said and then left Trip and Martin.

"What're your plans today, Trip?" Martin asked. "Oh y'know just gonna visit some art galleries here and there and maybe stroll through the old town or at Montjuic Park." Trip replied rather nervously. Martin crossed his arms, "What's up, buddy? Why are you acting strange?" Martin asked but Trip won't budge. "C'mon! Don't make me slap you in the face! Spill it!" He insisted.

"Okay, fine." Trip gave in. "Ever since Monaco, Amelia and I have somewhat been having this awkward tension lately." He replied. Martin nodded his head, "Ahhh yes, the awkward revelations of Trip McAllister's past." He joked but Trip didn't laugh. "Dude, she quickly ran as the boat docked at the pier!" Trip said in annoyed tone. "I was embarrassed for you." Martin joked but Trip still wouldn't laugh.

"I really like her, Mart." Trip said sincerely as he looked at Martin in the eyes. "That's good for you." Martin replied. "And you're lucky I'm your best friend." He added. Trip got a little bit confused, "What?" He asked confused. "I don't have any interesting things to do today so I volunteer to help you patch things up with Amelia!" Martin said enthusiastically.

Trip laughs, "What?! No way! You're the worst at planning dates." He said. "No I'm not! Trust me on this." Martin replied. Trip tried to analyze the situation and felt that Martin sounded and looked sincere. "I'll give you one shot." Trip said. "One shot?" Martin asked. "One shot." Trip said seriously. "Okay, I won't disappoint you." Martin replied and then went out of Trip's room.
